Here’s a poser. What have the following got in common?

Kadeema Cox, James Martin, Gary Lineker, Alan Titchmarsh, Rosie Jones, Basil Brush, Gok Wan and Jeremy Irons.

Easy, wasn’t it? It seems they are all national treasures and will be paraded as such at the Jubilee Pageant. In my view there’s more base metal than shining diamonds.

At least they all have British connections.  Apparently there is an American on the BBC coverage for the day.  No it's not Meghan.

I’m really looking forward to the pageant. I think it is going to be great despite some of those national treasures. There are three on the list I am distinctly ambivalent about.

I haven't even heard of two of them but I believe the queen has been in the job for quite some time. I've heard of her.

Fair enough.  At least in this country you can have an opinion and not disappear without trace or be found after murdering your family and  'committing suicide'!  I know which sort of society I would rather be part of.

A slightly surreal response, but hey ho.

Re allergies:  around 20 years ago I helped arrange an exchange visit for a Czech youth choir from a rural area who were visiting my husband's choir in Northumberland.  The children were to stay with host families, so we sent a request to the Czech choir for a list of their children who had allergies, asthma etc.  But none of them was allergic to anything.  This was apparently the case generally in the country at the time.  I've no idea whether that's since changed, or why it should have been so different from the British experience.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I can remember the last jubilee. I wore a golden cardboard crown with cotton wool glued on it, and I was made to sit at a table long enough to eat a bowl of jelly and custard. There aren't going to be the street parties or strolling singers around here this time, just not the same spirit.
And every time I grump about it, the OH says we'll be lucky if she's still alive, and street parties will likely be people dressed in black mourning.

I had a really busy day yesterday so thought I'd sleep like a log, an early night, four ruddy hours and up and raring to go again. What I wouldn't give for 7 or 8 hours sleep a night but my flipping brain isn't wired like that.
