The biological washing liquid solved the problem of the snail trails so thank you @Dovefromabove and all the other contributors. Parasol now safely in the porch.

@Liriodendron we had to take forms to the Mairie for signature a couple of months ago.  Even in our small village they're used to it.

The knee is doing well thanks and I'm already down to one crutch but goodness me it's swollen and the daily anticoagulant jabs give me a burning sensation.   Only 33 to go!

Well done with the parasol @Lizzie27.

Medical advice has certainly changed.  When I had my first knee op, I was told to keep compression bandages on for 2 weeks.  When I had the second one done, exactly the same op but 5 years later, I was told to keep it on for 3 days.

@Liriodendron, to be fair to Pension Service staff in particular, I always had good dealings with them.  That was speaking to them within DWP and when I was helping my brother when he applied for Pension Credits.  You will always find those who would rather be doing something else.

@KT53 maybe you had a different surgery?  Prosthetic knees are very different from cartilage repairs for example.  I have to use ice blocks from the freezer a couple of times a day to help cool it all down and reduce the inflammation and it's a lot cooler to the touch now.

@Liriodendron the pension staff we deal with on the phone are all in the Newcastle office and have been unfailingly pleasant and helpful.

@Obelixx mine wasn't knee replacement, but a lot more than cartilage repair. The leg was splinted straight for 6 weeks and any time splint was off, other than doing physio, I had to put compression on it.

Not as straightforward then @KT53 and I suspect technology has moved on since then too.  I trust both your knees are OK now.

I'm really cross with myself today.  Overslept, plans to go to a nursery which closed at 1pm scuppered.  Now all out of sorts and a bit grumpy.

You should have told me. I've been awake since 3am. I'd have called you.
