it did bring home how easy it is for black men to end up in jail in the US.
    If they survive the arrest.
The US police also steal a lot of money from people. If you're driving to buy a car and get pulled over for a minor issue then the police can seize the cash you have with you and it'll be in the police pension fund before you can try to get it back. The amount they seize is now in the billions and a significant percentage is estimated to have come from innocent people, or at least people who weren't charged with anything. It's not automatically returned if you're not charged. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_forfeiture_in_the_United_States

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

We just recently binge watched The Staircase - awful.  And recently we had An American Marriage as our book for book club where someone accused our black hero of a rape he didn't commit and the guy spent years in jail as a result.  Yes that was fiction but it did bring home how easy it is for black men to end up in jail in the US.

The problem is predominantly black men being jailed for crimes they didn't commit, but not only them.  There was a series I watched a few years ago with law students working on cases of wrongful conviction and some of the cases there were white males from poor backgrounds.

That was easy to steal.  Friends of ours once had about 50 young conifers stolen from their front garden overnight.  They had been in for best part of a year so had to be dug out, not just pulled.

I get really annoyed when something comes in a useful ziplock bag that has ventilation holes punched into it. :|

I get really annoyed when I go to rip up a cardboard box for the compost and it’s got a plastic coating.

Probably around the same time that HIV became HaitchIV - as advertised by the BBC promoting a podcast recently - and not long after being "Gifted" something rather than being given something.
Language evolves as is evident by the recent constant use of "I apologise" and no "Wrong doing" which essentially can be transcribed as "F*** Y**".

I'm willing to be convinced otherwise but this seems like a waste of time to me https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/06/pontfadog-oak-returns-five-cloned-saplings-north-wales-ceiriog-valley
A thousand year old oak tree will have produced millions of acorns in its lifetime so why create a couple of grafted clones when its genetics will live on anyway? Maybe it's symbolic or whatever but they could have raised some plants from acorns if they were that sentimental about it.
