Washing machine is working again. One of the motor brushes had destroyed itself. The other brush still had half its life left as would be expected of a machine this age so just a faulty part I guess. The engineer still says Samsung make very good machines and recommends them so maybe I'm just unlucky.
The nice man from British Gas Home Care has just been to fix the washing machine. Bleedin' thing started first time. He laughed when I said " BUT I DID THAT AND IT DIDN'T WORK " As I've no heating oil, he GAVE me an electric fan heater. Bless'im
Talking about PSA and mammogram tests, I'd just like to say that a mammogram, which I had every year, didn't pick up my breast cancer. Just saying don't totally rely on mammograms to give an 'all clear'. It's best to keep paying attention to your body.
My breast cancer (which was over 22 years ago btw) was picked up when one nipple, for no apparent reason, kept doing an impression of a 'chapel hat peg' which was amusing at the time, but I was so glad I took it seriously.
The real issue with the PSA test is, the larger the number, does not always represent the severity of the disease. Surgery represents the only treatment, and can lead to major side effects. At present it is very hard to tell who should have surgery and who shouldn't.
As someone who was diagnosed some 15 years ago, also in my 50's I would have to say this. It was the much criticised Tony Blairs govt that introduced the wellman screen. I had no symptoms or known risk factors. My GP said a year or so after my surgery, that about the age I am now I would have been complaining about hip, back and leg pain, and blaming the gardening, by then it would have been in my bones and too late to treat. That was the assumption then. I will never know if I could have lived without the surgery but I am living with the consequences, the point is though I am LIVING . Things move on diagnosis and treatment improves, you can't turn back the clock, I had the best available at the time and I am grateful for it.
Belated thanks to everyone who gave me ideas as to why the circuit breaker was tripping every Sunday at 11pm. Current theory is that it may be connected to the weekly disinfection heating programme (to kill legionella) on our too-clever-by-half extracted air water heater, which seemed to happen about that time, but we don't recall happening recently. (For "two-clever-by-half" read "beyond my comprehension without an instruction book not translated from the Chinese". Probably.)
Now we have to decide whether to contact the plumber or the electrician. Or both.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
electrician. If it's tripping the circuit it's most likely an earth leak. Electrical appliances that contain water are quite prone to them (steam irons being top of the list, but I'm guessing you're not sleep-ironing or you'd have spotted the piles of flat laundry by now)

Well,it didn't take long did it!! Solar panels installed on Monday, appear to have malfunctioned today!!! Alarm going off. All lights flashing on battery, the installers left battery info books,we don't understand what they mean. Rang installation people at 9 as soon as they opened. Course you speak to a call handler, not an expert. Inspite of a south facing fully sunny roof,we were taking from the grid, apparently. They wanted screen shots of the flashing lights, done that. Now waiting!!
