    August and insects. If anyone can ID the bees, do let me know..  (Five min vid. Apols for neighbour's building works).

    I always get the impression that when a butterfly does the below (slowing the closing of wings) it seems like it's slowly falling asleep. When the wings are closed, and the beast is settled, after a few mins, it certainly does seem that one can get closer to it - like its dreaming. I tested it out this summer and was nearly able to touch the sleeping butterfly. This admiral did seem very tired.

    Maybe the 15th on the list, picture looks very similar.
  • I agree,  Chrysotoxum bicinctum. It is common in Southern England, and found in most of Britain.
