One of the thread-waisted wasps but that whole family group is a nightmare to identify.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    He looks interesting @wild edges
I had a Painted Lady visitor today:

Funnily enough I have some in my kitchen at the moment too!

I bought them online - they're for children  :D but adults like caterpillars too!  I'm very excited for the big reveal!

I was out taking photos of bees in the garden and had to come inside to get a drink for one of the kids. I put my shoes back on and went back outside but my big toe started to really hurt. I thought I was getting an ingrowing nail or something but it all looked ok when I took my shoe off. Thinking it was just a random pain I put my shoe back on and stood back up only for another toe to start hurting. Turns out there was a carder bee in my shoe :|
Anyway this was the bee I was trying to photograph. It's turning into my White Whale sadly and I'm starting to think I'll never get a decent enough photo to ID it properly. It's some kind of nomad bee anyway and by all accounts I'd need to catch it to get an exact ID anyway.

An amazing pic! It has a kind of waspy bum. It's always the eyes and the antennae that get me. Disco glow sticks!
