    A fast and therefore not great shot, pretty sure this was the first meadow brown this year.

    The above fly, according to NatureSpot, could be the most wonderfully named...

    "Black-horned Gem"

    a common species, but the first time I've seen one in the garden.
  • I keep getting attached by a brown fritillary type butterfly that has taken up residence around my patio. Seriously, it appears regularly and will fly at/on me Or my hubby if we are around there. This has been going on for 2 weeks. I googled but can’t see any similar behaviour, I should try and video it to prove it’s not a joke. 

    So odd. Anyone else had this? How long do those butterflies live??

    Some butterflies, like purple emperors, will attack objects and birds much larger than themselves, to defend territory. I can’t imagine your flutter will do you much damage
