Without knowing the size of it that's difficult, but if it's medium moth sized then I'd guess Yellow Tail going by the legs alone.
I think it is either a Brown Tail or a Yellow Tail.

Thanks both will see if it's still around tomorrow and do some measuring.

Restricted to garden photography at the moment, but a few butterflies are flitting about, so managed a picture or two.

This one is missing a Club from one of its antenna.

Sometimes the best camera is the one you have with you, so please excuse the cropped phone pic, and the state on my hands :#

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It's a photo of normal mortals. No need to apologise. It's great. The forum isn't a photo comp.

I picked up a fallen pine branch to throw into the woods, and this little guy landed a foot in front of my face. Even better, it obliged me by holding still while I fiddled left-handed with unlocking my phone and getting the focal settings fixed.

This one shows the shimmer of its wings a little better.

Any ideas what these tiny creatures are? I didn't intentionally make a pond! I left this thing at the end of the garden as it would fill with rainwater if I put bird seed in, and would leak if I put water in. Now it is clogged with stuff plus old rainwater and creatures are swimming in it. See on the old petals, as I know the pics aren't great.

    I would say mozi larvae

@Crazybeelady agree with @Fire if we are looking at the right creatures they do look like mozi larvae, of which I'm not a fan, mozi bites make me ill.

Ohhh OK! Interesting. I might not bother topping up the water if it dries out in the next few days then!
