Hi all! Lots of hoverflies in the garden today, hovering over the current flowering plants, namely Fatsia japonica Spider’s Web and Saxifraga fortunei 'Shiratama'.
I haven't really paid much attention to how many flies are about in November before. Is it normal to see so many still? Lots of photos, but lots of flies. These are all from today, 6th November, after days of intense wind and rain. But give them a spot of sun and out they come!
The rest are all on parsley. They just adore it
I would guess at least another 5 or 6 species too small for me to get a shot of.
There seemed to be a lot of insect activity today. I saw this Migrant Hawker as well as another dragonfly species that didn't want to sit still. Plenty of wasps and flies about and even the odd butterfly too.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
