Greenhouse roof window blown out,  end wall blown out,  1 roof panel gone and door blown off.... plus side,  sweetpea seedlings are hardening off nicely 🤣

@WonkyWomble. You sound just like my daughter, she sent a photo of a tree/shrub thing flattened, broke off at the bottom, never mind she says,  that’s one less to prune.

We've got off lightly with Eunice. Arwen was a red warning for us (not much on the news about it pre storm though....).

Winds are gusting at about 50mph right now.  What's baffling me are the kites.  They're flying into the wind and really struggling but they keep coming back around and doing it over and over.  Is it some kind of high intensity exercise or something? Weird.

My phone said 40mph wind here which was rubbish. Our heavy wooden arbour which was screwed to large slate tiles with metal brackets, blew over, still attached to one of the slabs. It's fallen on the wildflower area, missed the pear tree. One back panel has smashed. Was watching the arches nervously, but hubby made one,put both up.

One person killed near by just now - tree falling on car.
  • We have had a fair bit of roof damage over several sheds. The cows were not bothered at all.
  • Reminds me of the great storm of 1987, in the morning we discovered the roof had blown off the chicken hut, and all the chicken were still brooding up on their perches, seemingly without a care in the world. It was 'business' as usual when their hatch was opened and they all rushed out for breakfast.

@Lyn your daughter is right! It will grow back with a nice bushy habit! 🤣👍
@Dovefromabove it did wake the cats at one point and Sweetie explained this is exactly the reason she is glad she isn't a stray anymore and why she isn't ever tempted outside... even on a nice day!
@Fritillary sorry to hear of your roof issues.
I can recommend a rambling rose Mermaid.... its the only thing holding down my corrugated metal shed roof! Seriously!!!
Stay safe everyone,  its not over yet!
