Storm Damage

  • The storm is still going strong here. During the 'eye' we nipped out for clear tape to secure what remains of the greenhouse roof, so we could get some sleep later. There is a lull tomorrow, so I hope we can do more lasting repairs.
I will contact Palram, who do supply free replacements. I suspect they may be quite busy in the next week.

I'm just back from a walk in the wood at the side of me. Two trees damaged, wind from opposite directions. Arwen and Duncan

  • Storm Eunice may have passed on but it's Best Friend ( tho slightly less fierce ) is still causing a bit of angst here in SW UK.
I hear that people are now beginning to question whether or not the extreme weather worldwide is likely to increase/continue. As we've had a few years of it, I'm surprised the question is even being raised.

Well, when big storm news comes along we all brace for the big news stories.

But we don’t expect massive, old trees to fall on our own homes. 😐

How dreadful, fate is a strange thing, wrong place, wrong time.

Sorry to hear that Philippa,  I’ve been out gardening all afternoon just a jumper on,  quite still unless it’s the lull before the storm.

Goodness me, @JoeX, that's serious stuff.

At least it looks like the council will be footing the bill for it's removal.

I was waiting anxiously for one of the very old, tall birches just outside our house to fall on us but fortunately it didn't.

  • Quite a few fences were downed around me but apart from plenty of wind pruned branches, I've only noticed a few dead trees that have been toppled in our local woods. We didn't really get it that bad here in norwich though.

I just check my blog, we had the same kind of storm in 2020 and in 2019 and not to mention the two snow storms in March 2018.
I think it's normal for February. On the other side, we had no storm this autumn and this was the first one this winter. I found the missing west direction in Autumn more worrying because I do hope we don't get such cold Spring again.

On the other side, the fences of two of our neighbours went down, but they were made poorly. If they had spent more money in the first place for proper fencing, then no damage now the second time since 2020.

    I my garden.
