I think it’s actually windier here now than it was at its peak on Friday, plus it is lashing it down with rain, thought it wasn’t supposed to be as bad today 😞
    Tomorrow is another day
  • I agree. It is howling now with horizontal rain.
I managed to race around the village green yesterday afternoon, in the dry, for the dog to have his walk but not today.
The looks he keeps giving me are unrepeatable.
The wind is slamming against the house. I saw lots of branches lying everywhere and a lot of tatty fences and sheds. Shouldn't think there is much left of them by now.
I am staying hunkered down, in the warm, waiting for it to go away.

Depressing isn't it. Makes me realise what a precarious existence we have on this earth and how much we're shored up by creature comforts.

But hey we've got some nice pork cutlets for tea  :)

Barnsley lamb chops here with potato and leek dauphinoise …. comfort food for stormy weather 😋

Yes indeed. Great to remember that the world is not ours and we don't get to control it.

Last night the Met Office said there was a yellow wind warning for the North and a bit windy further south. This afternoon they released the Sunday afternoon 'forecast' and it was suddenly a named storm with yellow wind warnings for everywhere and amber in Scotland. It's been the worst wind of the week here today and one gust shook the house and flattened the neighbour's fence. Scary that they can't predict that within 12 hours.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

On Thursday my OH received a text message from Electricity North West warning of possible outages due to storm Eunice on Friday and storm Franklin on Sunday. This evening I couldn't believe it when our local newscaster warned of storm Franklin coming tomorrow when massive gusts were already threatening serious damage outside the window. God help us tomorrow is all I can say! :s

Franklin looks like it might hit the North West harder this time - and NI. Not as full on Eunice which had gusts of 100+mph  winds in places.
  • OMG! What a dreadful day yesterday was. Much worse than the weekend.
When I opened my door the noise of the wind in some nearby very large evergreen trees was terrifying. I have never heard anything like it. I thought I spotted on one weather forecast there are another 2 storms on the way! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw they had also been named.
It is so deceptive, from indoors it looks quite inviting today, large white clouds, blue sky and sunshine. But the wind!
I was debating yesterday, whether to take the dog for a quick sprint around the Village Green but when I was almost blown off my feet when I stepped outside I changed my mind. Just too dangerous.
