My worry with this case, is that we end up with actual criminal trials with no jury. The Scottish government is making noises about moving to no jury trials in 'sex' crimes. A jury brings a wide experience of life. I'll bet a judge from a different social background, has little experience when it comes to drunken fumbles in working class areas.
Non consensual sex is non consensual sex, whether it starts out as a drunken fumble in a working class area or a drunken fumble in a stately home.
My point is that it should be for a jury of his or her peers to decide, not someone that lives in a stately home and hasn't heard of women claiming rape to get a pay out. I know women that have done this, and so do my sisters and daughter. We have discussed this. I'll bet most judges haven't sat in a council flat during a 48 hour binge with women that admit to doing this to earn money. It is easier money than what they earn selling sex on the streets. Some women have had their case thrown out because they were stupid enough to post on social media about the pay out they were hoping to get. Some folk really have no idea how some folk live their lives. Lucky them.
And you really think women in stately homes haven’t cried rape (or threatened to) in order to get something they want … (like a husband with a title) or to explain an unwanted pregnancy? 🙄

I have no experience of stately homes, so you win.
@Balgay.Hill You really have had some unfortunate experiences with women. When you think how long it takes to get a conviction, never mind compensation they must be extraordinarily determined. I think most women make genuine complaints and get little joy from it. Fortunately, only a small number earn a living this way or on the streets and most - working class or aristocratic - prefer a quieter way of life. I hope you meet some of these one day.

I grew up in a rough housing scheme, but managed to move on from there. Most of these things i've described happened a long time ago. I totally agree that most complaints are genuine, i simply wanted to say that there are a lot of women from poor backgrounds that will do anything for money. Some of the girls i went to school with have been convicted for burglary, drug dealing, housing benefit fraud, etc, etc. I have a personal story that happened a while back. I was divorced in my '30s, and started going back to some of my old haunts. An 18 year old girl chatted me up in a pub, and one thing led to another. It was a boost to my ego after a nasty split up from my wife. I always used protection, even though the girl said she was on the pill. Another girl that knew my sister, told my sister that this girl was trying to get pregnant to claim child maintenance from me. At this time, i was working on the oil rigs earning good money. Obviously i ended the relationship. I see that woman in the street now and then. She has 4 kids from 4 different fathers, and enjoys a good standard of life from the maintenance payments. She has never worked a day in her life.
A man in this 30s who has a relationship with an 18 year old is probably asking for trouble.
Looking after 4 children is very hard work. This woman sounds as if she has issues and clearly chooses badly when it comes to men. Deserving of sympathy in my opinion.

I give in. That poor woman is probably getting around 4x£150 plus child maintenance a week. Maybe £6-700 a week, compared to £74 a week unemployment benefit. No more from me on this thread.
Four men have been irresponsible enough to father children with a woman that they have made no commitment to …. and you’re pointing the finger at her!!! 🤬
