Morning all, bit of sunshine here after a horrid wet day yesterday. So hopefully will get to prune roses in between other odd jobs. Happy Valentine's to those that mark the occasion, and hugs and best wishes to all that are struggling for one reason or another.
@Pat E and @Uff They are a Japanese invention and they are a cross between an apple and a pear. Very much like a really crunchy yet juicy pear. We had a tree in NZ - I don't know if they grow in the northern clime. They had some at our local Carrefour supermarket - at a price!!
I have just received a beautiful bunch of flowers from my OH who is currently in Italy spoiling the other woman in his life - la mamma!!
Rainy day here, so am motivated to do some spring cleaning in unused rooms. Done and dusted now and closed up!
@Dovefromabove I discovered Spam when I went to London early 70s. My girlfriend and I flatted with 2 sisters (English) so spam and toad in the hole was often on the menu. I loved it when it was their turn to cook! (We are still in touch after .... 50 years!)
Will have a look at Chloe - have been watching No Return and This is going to hurt.
Enjoy St Valentine's Day A la Saint Valentin, l'hiver monte qu sapin.

There's a biting cold wind here today after overnight rain. Yesterday was very warm so I potted on cuttings taken at the back end of last summer. OH put together some new staging for the green house which was badly needed. Saw a red squirrel in the garden this morning - no greys here, the first in years.
Email from the leader of our bookgroup: could those of us not being whisked off for a romantic meal for two confirm that we would be there this evening. We all replied 'I'll be there!'. But OH is cooking my favourite meal for me beforehand. We are enjoying watching Chloe, so much so that I will ensure bookclub finishes in good time for me to get back home by 9pm to watch this evening's episode.

They do. You very occasionally get them in Waitrose, but generally need to grow them yourself if you want to eat them in the UK. The trees are self fertile but more productive with 2. Most of the good specialist fruit tree nurseries sell them

That happens to me sometimes @floralies
We will be watching Chloe, but we want to finish watching "Around the World in 80 Days" and "No Return" on ITV first.
We are waiting for the electrician, a couple of minor repairs needed, then we are off to the SM.

rather than established love. Maybe I’ve been mis-informed 😂
Sad to hear that your beloved cat has passed away @AnnaB. They leave such a void don’t they?
