Years ago my son's car was written off due to a head-on collision with a van ... he was only 19 and almost everyone who heard about the accident later assumed it had been my son's fault ... all except the lorry driver behind him who saw it happen ... he saw the van accelerate rapidly and shoot across a slight bend onto the wrong side of the road and hit my son's car ...
The lorry driver kept a camera in his cab for just such emergencies ... he also called the police so that he could show them the tyre marks etc and give a statement .... he said that otherwise the insurance company were likely to say it was a 'knock for knock' as it was a narrow country road, and son would lose his No Claims Bonus ... thank goodness for a kind lorry driver ... when the police arrived and saw the tyre marks etc the van driver eventually admitted that she'd seen the lorry approaching so she hit the brake ........... but she was wearing wellington boots as she'd been taking soil samples in a field and hadn't bothered to change back to her driving shoes ... (the lorry driver even took a photo of her wearing the boots) .....and and she hit the accelorator instead .... her age ........ 30.

Shoes do make a huge difference, I can't believe I used to drive in high heals. In Spain I think it's a driving offence to drive in flipflops and bare feet. How many holiday makers do that?
Change of subject. Signs of spring, bulbs in pots coming up. As soon as I lift the chicken wire, to stop the stems being damaged the bl**dy squirrels get in and start digging. I thought once they were growing the squirrels would leave them alone.🤬
Aw, sorry to read that @Allotment Boy my sympathies. It must be so frustrating. There's a lurking squirrel close by our garden in the trees , but it seems to leave my bulbs alone pretty much. It does have a go at my bird feeders occasionally, but it's antics as it swings upside down makes me laugh as he looks so comical. I suppose it's easy for me to write this as my squirrel is not a nuisance, unlike yours.
@philippasmith2 From time to time the same one appears on the Food Forum I'm on and tries to teach us about powdered eggs and spam (no joke). He has several aliases and has been banned on there several times for being argumentative ... now most of us know not to respond and he goes goes away.

Wasn't there chat recently about retesting drivers?
