@chicky The Falklands war was on when we went to Barbados so, as the plane took off from Heathrow, the rugby players sang The Dambusters theme, much to the amusement of the rest of the passengers.

Oh @chicky I do hope you get there - we love Barbados, its where we have flown into in the past for our cruises. We loved the fish fry in Oistens - bonkers but brilliant, and we had a glorious day at the Boatyard... !! We are meant to be out to Jamaica in a few weeks for a holiday but wont be happy until we get there!! If we cant we may try and transfer somewhere else!
So I was hoping for some advice, we recently had a buddleia pulled out of the ground as it was huge and totally rotten at the roots. We needed the fence panels replacing before spring so had it all done in one job lot and now I have an extra metre of border to play with! I have a salvia to plant out and have got some penstemon cutting in the greenhouse I am hoping to plant out late spring early summer, but any suggestions of some perennials would be welcome!!! I will also chuck loads of annuals in as I love growing them from seed. I would like a dahlia or 2 i think, we have Kelvin Floodlight already but he didn't do so well so he's now firmly out in the front garden. I was thinking the single dahlias... could anyone recommend one? We love bright colours. Thank you in advance forkers!!!
That's a mot gorgeous dahlia, @Dovefromabove I remember, when I was working for Phostrogen, attending a dahlia show; of course, things have moved on a lot since then. I was fortunate enough to be on their Chelsea stall too.
I've gone dahlia mad @r@rholden_82 and ordered Dove's Waltzing Matilda along with a few others that I'm planning on planting among roses to create a gorgeously decadent border. Well, that's the plan!
But I know what will happen - I'll get one or two blooms on each at all different times!
I've given up on dahlias for now. They are lovely but I just don't have the time for them - too many other things to do first. The ones I have that have survived winters without my connivance are welcome to stay as long as they like.
Seed potatoes, spring planting garlic and chilli seeds arrived in the post this morning
Oh and Wordle in 3 (lucky guess). Who got me started on that? Oh dear
