  • Morning. Cold, but currently not freezing here.
I have 4 heated seed trays in the greenhouse, so I'm hoping all the overwintering chillies and tender plants are OK. They're on a timer, so if this cold snap continues, I'll extend the time they're on.
I'm also waiting for new greenhouse door catches from Palram, which are arriving today. The doors are fastened in a rather Heath Robinson fashion, after one of the catches rattled loose in a recent storm.
Must make mushroom soup for lunch. Anyone want a mug?

Penny, I love mushroom soup, I’ll have some if there’s any spare.
no frost here this morning but something’s coming down now, I think it’s just rain,  the winds turning to south west,  warm and wet.

It’s 10.30am. Temp is 5° outside and it’s raining. OH filling up the bird feeders for the 2nd time this morning.  Huge flock of starlings sitting up in the big tree.

6c here at the moment. Seemed to have escaped the cold spell down here. Used the last dregs of the porridge this morning, used a bit of muesli to make up a portion. Not too bad! Called into Waitrose yesterday with porridge on my shopping list, in big letters with an arrow next to it. Somehow managed to forget it. I did get the blueberries to go on it though. Any chance your OH could pop out again, @Dovefromabove?
Might have to pop to Sainsbury’s later, we like their freshly baked bread, so I’ll get some there.
Clearing out the space under the stairs today. Got to move 16 boxes of ceramic tiles without either OH or me hurting any of our delicate insides. Slow and steady, with the aid of the sack trolley, will be the order of the day.
Hope everyone keeps warm and your power stays on.

Our farm shop is giving away a large loaf when you spend £15.00,  not difficult in there, the prices are very high,  although it’s all good stuff.  The bread is £2.50.

    Morning all.  :)

It only got down to -1 here - not used to all this mild stuff yet, after living in the Pennines.  On the irritating side, the lawn is stupidly long and lush green, but far too wet to cut.

@WonkyWomble's reminded me I need a diary.  Or maybe I could just re-number the days in last year's, for all the use it got...   here's hoping there'll be more to write in it in 2022.   :)

Mmm, mushroom soup... thanks, @Penny_Forthem!  Might have to re-heat it after its trip across the Irish sea though.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I did that with my 2020 calendar.  Not because I didn’t do anything but because I’m a tightarse.  I have bought a new one for this year.

After last year’s saga with WHSmith and a Hermes delivery, I bought my 2022 diary nice and early. £3.50 in The Works!

    Morning all.

It was -4° this morning, big white frost. Sun is out trying to melt it. I'd left the new curtain rails in the car on the back seat. The door was frozen, couldn't open it, but the sun was on the other side so I managed that one although it was still a bit stuck.

All the Christmas stuff is now in boxes, waiting to go in the loft. The loft is very chilly at the moment so think I'll leave it for a bit. The cards are still out though, I like looking at them and knowing people have thought of me. Each one is like a little present. I find ecards rather disappointing.

I can do without a diary but not a wall calendar. For the last couple of years I was getting one from the UK, a large A4 size a month to view. Now they want huge delivery charges more than the calendar is worth so decided to print a diary template off the web, punch holes in the top and used treasury tags to keep it all together and hung on the wall! Not so pretty but does the job for now.
