Good evening forkers and welcome to the other newbies here. I am also a new poster having been a 'lurker' for some while and am loving the idea of new friends to be found and the great family atmosphere. Unfortunately on Monday evening we had a sudden bolt of lightening and an immediate crack of thunder and the lights went out! Lights came on again but no internet. Don't know when they will correct the fault so daughter has tethered me via her phone so I can post quickly. Will have to read back sometime ...... Hope all those that are feeling under the weather improve very soon, and those of you who are having other problems can find solutions as soon as possible. My best wishes to you all.

Well that is a dedicated Forker @AnnaB! I hope you get it all sorted ASAP, good luck!

Glad MIL is settled in the home @punkdoc, when my father is being awkward we float the idea,  leave it a while,  remind him of it saying it was his idea and wasn't it clever of him, could this work as gentle persuasion with MIL?

After my battle with the electric company yesterday I decided to continue as I mean to go on.  Being a nationwide customer,  there have been 3 long delays in payments reaching everyone's accounts for the entire building society.  This has all happened in a one month period.
2 times just before Christmas and again on Tuesday.  One email of complaint and I've been compensated £100. Any Nationwide customers out there,  its worth doing!

I'm now stuck on the sofa with a pint of darjeeling tea and am audiobook after beef stew and dumplings  😋
Well I'm turning in,  stew has sent me to sleep with a warm glow 🤗 goodnight folks 😴

Morning everyone. I’m laying in bed listening to a thunderstorm overhead and the house has rocked a couple of times, so I’m expecting the power and internet to go off.

welcome to all the new Forkers.

    Oooh @AnnaB and @Pat E ⛈

I like storms (as long as I’m safe indoors). We seem not to get power cuts here near the city … but certainly when I lived in a rural area power cuts caused by storms did happen. Best thing to do is to hunker down and wait until it’s all over … we had solid fuel stoves so the essentials of life could carry on.

Snuggling down in our own bed now … sleep tight everyone 😴

I agree with all you said Dove. The contour bank below the house filled up very quickly.

I had a laugh when I pulled the curtains back just in time to see three Roos going for their lives. Not sure where they could go, but they obviously didn’t like being the front paddock with lightning and thunder overhead.

    Sleep well.

Great pic @Pat E - glad your power stayed on 💡

Another early start for me - College today.  LFT negative, so I’m good to go.  Penultimate week - this course just whizzed by 😮

Had a great day yesterday - got a masterclass in how to prune a climbing rose - complete with loopy bits.  Great fun, and a real sense of pride at the end.  I shall make a point of walking past my efforts through the coming seasons to see how it gets on 🌸🌸🌸

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
I always sleep well at MIL’s … but slept even better in our own … however OH got up early to whizz down to Wrose for shower gel and blueberries … we’ve run out of both … so I’m awake now with a ☕️ … today I will bake bread and make squash soup for OHs lunch flask tomorrow and oxtail stew and dumplings for supper. There’s cavalo nero in the garden to have with it.
It looks jolly frosty out there again …

    Hi all

Minus 7 outside at the moment, not a gardening day.

Minus 3C here @punkdoc and that’s bad enough … I’ll join you on the sofa when I’ve done the cooking … I’ll have some new-baked bread and some very good local ewes’ cheese for lunch if you’re interested?
