Good afternoon everyone, so many of us now 😀 Thanks for all the encouragement and support folks. I've followed the advice of the energy company complaints team and outlined the case with proof of our tenancy contract and a polite but I know my rights type email stating that their advisor assured me this would be rectified and with utmost haste. I will keep you all posted with the next instalment lol..... maybe we should have a theme tune like the Archers 🤔 so much happens on Forkers!! 🤣 and it's a real community! 🤗
Hello @rholden_82 Welcome back! I do remember you - didn't you get a new garden shed last time you were here? We come and go as Boy George sings!!
I know that you are darker earlier than we are down here, but I just hate having to turn the lights on at 5.30pm. Yes ... you are more likely to be a couple of hours earlier than me.
@Chicky - I signed up for Wordle and now am practising with Lingo. I can't download the App as it isn't available in France. I dd yesterday's puzzle in 4 goes quite quickly but today's took me ages and lots of pieces of paper!!
Settled down for the evening after having made an Italian potato and hot pepper dish and acarrot/beetroot salad with almost the last of the carrots and beetroot from the garden. The only flower I have is the last cauliflower and some broccoli shoots. I also have 2 magnificent plants of purple sprouting broccoli, but no shoots yet. Oh yes, a bit of kale.
We have chocolates to go - once they're gone, they're gone!! I've only just twigged on @Penny_Forthem 's pseudonym - nice one!! Kept seeing Penny Farthing!! Doh!
Funny you can't get Pinterest on Chrome @Obelixx, I can and I'm in France too. I even got it at my last house where Internet was very feeble, couldn't see the Garden Gallery photos there.
I went out this afternoon to look at curtain materials and rails in a big fabric shop near Périgueux. There were a lot of fabrics, a bit confusing, rather like a warehouse. Very few ready made curtains, none with rufflette, just big metal rings. Very poor choice of curtain rails too, but they did have rufflette tape and I also bought some black out curtain lining. It wasn't nearly as nice as the stuff I bought in Norfolk, probably too thick for the bedroom curtain fabric that I already have.
After that I went to Leroy Merlin, a huge DIY store. They had a much better choice, the curtain rails I wanted and I bought some ready made pale grey velvet curtains for the sitting room.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
You're making me very jealous @Busy-Lizzie, I haven't been to a big DIY store for months. When I was doing up my house, my favourite shop was B&Q, I used to spend hours just wandering up and down all the aisles, including the ironmongery and tool ones. Happy days!
Hello fellow Forkers! How lovely to have so many new people.
We're just home from a bracing walk in the Burren (limestone hills with an extensive area of limestone pavement) with our daughter, SIL and 2 granddaughters. A lovely bright day but not much above freezing so we kept on the move, then had a picnic in the car park. It's an amazing place - not a lot of vegetation to be enjoyed this time of year, but many rare plants can be found in spring and summer, including (apparently) 24 species of orchids. We'll be back.
Of course, there's some strange Irish legend about the "saucers" on the limestone pavement - but I like the way they're building up a little rim around each one, presumably as the overflow water evaporates...
I'm glad you seem to be making progress with your energy company, @WonkyWomble - fingers crossed for a lovely big rebate very soon.
Best wishes to all with health or other problems.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Evening folks. Welcome newbies. 64 posts I had to catch up on then! Gutted I missed the butties.
Was back to work today. Rush hour traffic was minimal this evening - WFH or isolating I wonder??
Cold here tonight so will be keeping an eye on the forecast. Or I could go to the SM and if they are low on bread, eggs and milk then the word is out that snow is coming 😂

I've just had a cheeky wee siesta.
Party time for the Wonkys soon . I can think of nobody who deserved to treat herself more .XXX
Take care all.
I do think it’s a bit WTF as am secretly jealous of the concept of WFH. Picked the wrong job for that.
