HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all, lets hope for brighter times for everyone this year. I am now counting backwards for my birthdays as the numbers are getting too high. Another very warm day today, my border fork beckons but my joints say noooo!
I looked in my book of Expressions for the Day and decided that today's expression was a bit dismal - which was: St Clair porte quarantine meaning, whatever the weather is today, it will continue for forty days. (We have mist and this means that the weather is too mild for this time of year and seeds start to germinate too early.) Another weirdo spring?
Good morning all, and Happy New Year. Got woken by fireworks at midnight but didn’t see them as couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed. Apart from a dip into my book at 5 am, I slept very well, hope that is the start of a pattern for 2022! Raining here, but no plans to go out today. Would have loved a cinnamon roll, Dove, made do with yoghurt and muesli instead.
Good morning all you lovely forkers. May I join you on this wonderful thread please? I have been following you all for some time and would now like to wish you all a very Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Peaceful New Year.
I have had an industrious morning making bread and then a white chocolate and ginger cheesecake for Possum (and us) cos she thinks she doesn't like the passion fruit in the tart I'm making for dinner tonight. Being a good day to harvest and process fruits, this pm I'll be harvesting chillies to freeze and also preserve in oil and will be saving seed for sowing in a few weeks.
Need to do a tour and count the flowers too after I've let the chooks out for their afternoon perambulations. Scruffy has recovered fully from her tummy bug and also grown a whole new set of feathers and is looking very smart. She's less shy too. Fluffy has grown a whole new set too and is a lovely rich, chestnut brown, les speckled than the others. OH can no longer tell who is who.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

It's great to "meet" new Forkers, who've arrived since I felt the need to stop posting for a while. Hubby is still fragile but improving, so I'm giving it another go - but please forgive me if I don't always comment on everybody's posts...
No fireworks here to keep us awake last night. Apart from small sparklers they're not available for purchase by the general public, and there are stiff penalties (up to €10,000 fine and/or 6 months' imprisonment) for infringement. I guess there must be municipal displays but not in this neighbourhood.
Hello @AnnaB - the more the merrier on this thread, I think!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Happy New Years everyone. Lovely day here in Paris, way too warm for the season, so of course everything has burst into growth way too fast again…… wearing my best Christmas gift today… new gardening t-shirt says “a good day starts with tea and gardening.” Also came with a shopping bag that says “I just need this plant….and that one… and those over there…and perhaps????” My friends know me too well!
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
