Afternoon all, we do have sunshine today but it's quite chilly and windy as well. Had to wrap my scarf round my head on the way home earlier to keep my ears warm. Discovered wearing a mask also keeps your face warm. We both did a quick stint in the garden just before lunch, thinking it warmer than it was so that didn't last long. OH brushed the paths down again, the flipping magpies delight in chucking moss off the roof every day, makes an awful mess when it rains. Welcome @Penny_Forthem, nice to get new members logging in. Wow, that's some bill @WonkyWomble, hope you get it sorted. Tad surprised that you never twigged before however as that's a huge bill, who reads the meters? We've just had fresh small batons from the bakery with left over lamb from Sunday. I like brown sauce on mine whilst OH prefers pickle. A Tuesday treat. I refuse to diet or give up alcohol during January, it's a tough enough month as it is. Besides, there's all the boxes of chocolates we were given for Xmas to eat up first!
I don’t think she’ll mind me saying that @WonkyWomble ‘s place is a rental flat and they pay for their power on a card meter, so I suspect the meter was calibrated to take account of a former tenant’s debts and never re-set.

I’ve just moved all the chocolate and other goodies, off the top of the sideboard and tucked away in a drawer. I must now ration myself, rather than be tempted to ‘use them up’. I know from past experience that a week after they are all gone, I’ll get a desperate craving for some chocolate. Half a bottle of mulled wine, and an open bottle of port to dispose of, the rest will keep. When I thought we might have family visiting, I bought a few extra bottles. Then felt sorry for myself and opened more than I should have!
Hi all, another long term lurker here!! Hope you are all enjoying the New Year. It's my first day back at work after Christmas and it's been nice catching up on the threads around what you got up to over Christmas and New Year - i normally have a scroll every morning when i start work and the laptop hasn't been on since Xmas eve so had a lot of reading to do!!!
Hope you are all well, grey and rainy and v cold here today (Kent) but there is the hope of some sunshine tomorrow so fingers crossed a walk can be taken at lunchtime.
Haven't had the chance to get out in the garden very much as its been so wet and we have clay soil so it just stays on the surface for ages! Its nice to see some crocus and daffodils poking their heads through in our pots though and have duly sown the first chilli seeds of the year. Already looking forward to spring time that's for sure!!
Hello to all newcomers and hello all the regulars!. Hope @WonkyWomble you get your rebate post-haste and @punkdoc you got some more cheese for yourself! All this talk of chilli and basil seed sorting makes me want to start - but i know i must wait as i don't have space/light to grow things on! currently in possession of a pot of very leggy coriander seedlings which I shall have to pretend I grew to eat as microgreens....
Hello @Penny-Forthem and @rholden-82 and any new folk I may have missed. I'm very new here too. Won't it be fun here with so many to talk to? It's been a lovely sunny day here too but it's too cold to do anything outside; it's barely above freezing. My fingers are crossed for Wonky- I hope she gets some joy out of them.

Our choccies are all in the spare bedroom @Ergates, trouble is, I know where they are!
The plan is to have one box a week - if we can stick to it.
