    @TheGreenMan cuprinol garden shades in black ash, copying me again?  :D

    @Topbird thank you, that’s what I was hoping it’d do, I find the fence more in your face here being such a wide strip! Hoping once it’s planted it’ll disappear!

    Just found your thread, you've done a fantastic job, and what a lovely blank canvas now you're working on...  love the tree too, I used to have an Amelanchier, variety 'Ballerina'.. about the same height when planted, well worth investing in..   I can see now why you painted the fence... I shall try to  keep up with the progress..  best wishes..

    Excellent progress @zugenie, it's taking shape nicely!  It's amazing how paint revives a fence, but tires the painter!  Is your Amelanchier showing signs of budding yet? The furniture looks good too - I thought John Lewis, not Aldi!!

    Thank you @Plantminded I thought the same about the fence, it made it look brand new, the painter has definitely had enough though 😆

    I am pleased with it, it was £400 which is still a lot of money but not compared to the prices elsewhere for garden furniture!

    It’s starting to bud, I’ll try and remember to get a picture tomorrow!

    @Plantminded here’s the amelanchier!

    There’s a rather gangly branch that is way off to the right when viewed front on so I am going to trim that once it has blossomed. You can see the other side of the border here behind the amelanchier which I finished digging out yesterday! That’s where the pond is going so no mulch/plants there yet

    Got some plants in the right side of it though!

    Couple of them had red ants nests in which was fun!

    Dug up more treasures when I foolishly tried to dig a hole to plant a rose

    Annnd planted the evergreen honeysuckle my Mum brought me when she visited. This area is particularly bad for nettles, if I didn’t already have this I wouldn’t have planted anything here, I have put the turf I dug up from the last bit of the border, upside down, then layered cardboard and a thick layer of composted manure on top, so praying that’s enough to sort the nettles out!!!

    Thank you @zugenie, you've certainly been busy!  The Amelanchier looks fine, it obviously likes its new home.  I'd do what you're planning with that wayward branch too.  It won't be long before that border's full of colour and buzzing!  I can't believe what you're finding in that garden - time to relax now!

    @Plantminded if the weather stays like this it will be! I always think it will be ages until the fill out when they’re this little, but I know in a month or two it’ll already be filling in!
