    Afternoon all,

Did the tip run this morning - the last act of the new fence saga :) Also went to drop off the forms to register with a new doctor. I'm hoping it's actually possible to get an appointment with this one :o

I'm also waiting in for a couple of deliveries but at least I've achieved something today. I've got the end of the tennis and a spot of lunch for the time being ;)

    Hello all.

I slept really well last night, didn't even get up for the loo, most unusual.

My Covid test was negative again this morning, but 2 more grandchildren have caught Covid. None of them is very ill, just positive tests. Think it's spreading around the schools.

I went to the SM this morning, running low on veg and milk.

The plumber has just rung, he may not make it this afternoon to finish the bath. If he can't come then he says he'll come on Monday. Makes me wonder how people who work manage to get things done. Odd job man was meant to put up some curtain rails today, he rang too, coming on Tuesday.

I've booked a flight early Feb to go to Norfolk to be with OH.

Afternoon All, currently sitting in the opticians waiting area while mum has an eye test, there’s pictures of optical
illusions on the wall and I can’t stop looking at them 👀
LB I hope you managed to transport Lily safely to the vets and all is well with her,
Bluebells sorry to see you had an early start today, hope you’ve caught up with some sleep this afternoon,
SGL Glad you was able to get into town and do the necessary there, hope you’ve got your feet up now after a disturbed nights sleep,
Debs I hope you have a safe journey and the sneezing doesn’t materialise into anything more while you are away, that ice cream does sound good 😊
Hazel Hope those parcels arrive safely and you’re not kept waiting in all day for them,
Dove Gosh that was a disaster for your sons car, needing a complete engine rebuild. Lucky he was able to have use of another vehicle while it was repaired. Hopefully no more issues for him now,
Well done Biglad Some good jobs done there, hope your deliveries have arrived,
Busy Sorry to hear about your grandchildren, though I’m pleased you’ve remained negative. A little frustrating that the plumber is unable to come & finish the job today, atleast he let you know and it will be done next week.
Hope you have a nice evening everyone.

Good afternoon everyone. This morning was a complete disaster. Lily decided to go underneath my bed - and that was before I had even made any move to grab her. I had to ring the Vet and cancel the 09:15 appointment and rearrange it for 10:00. 09:55 I had to ring the Vet again to cancel that appointment and rearrange it for next Monday morning as Madam remained out of reach under the bed. She finally strolled down into the living room just after 11:00. Gone are the days when I would have been able to get down on the floor and wriggle underneath the bed to catch her but she has it off to a fine art - knowing exactly where to go so that I cannot reach her. Ho hum. Round 2 on Monday. I hope that you have no problems tomorrow Ante. Trust your Vet to ask you to move your appointment to the day you are supposed to be getting more snow. Hope it keeps clear for you.
Busy, you may have told us and I'm sorry if I missed it but did you get your drive and mower sorted out? How exciting that you are already booked to come home to Norfolk next month. I'm sure both you and your OH will be looking forward to meeting up again. I do hope that your plumber and odd job man turn up as promised.
I had a salesman knock on my door today asking me if I had thought about having my roof done. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my roof which is so obvious from the kerbside I cannot think why he bothered. I nearly asked him how he was at getting a cat into a carrier but it was a bit too late by then.

Debs, I do hope that your weekend is better than you anticipated. You can give us all the goss. later. That ice cream sounds positively, gloriously sin full. Send some down the tunnel with Al please.

    Afternoon all.

LB, sorry to hear that Lily decided not to go today. Maybe Monday will suits her better😂. I hope that it will not snow tomorrow. It's still clear sky, but freezing.

Chive, I hope that your Mum eye test goes well. Enjoy staring at optical illusion, and safe trip to home.

I'm done for today. Now I need cup of hot tea and rest. Somehow I missed debs post about ice cream, so if you have some more you can send me also.
When I was digging thru my seed collection I found spring onion seeds. Today they are sown, and hope that for Easter lunch I'll have some onions to cook with.

  • Hazel so many branches have closed the three next towns to us have closed and it would mean travelling into the city if needing to go.  We’re probably all in the same boat though.  I hope you get a refund on your gloves.  Lily I’m glad you had a safe journey to the bank and back.  I hope you’ve managed a snooze.  I had one this afternoon.  LB more often than not it can be very challenging to get your cat in the carrier and they are very in tune with what’s ahead.  We had a cat that was almost impossible to take to the vets.  It was a military operation and they know all the hard to reach places.  I had a cup of tea with relies and a catch up and back to make a fuss of Alfie.

How frustrating about Lily, LB. I hope you can catch her on Monday. My cat, Alexa, was like that. How do they know they are going to the vets and not just invited for a cuddle?

The tractor mower man came yesterday and has taken the tractor for servicing. He had a portable battery and jump leads. The drive man didn't turn up today or yesterday and isn't answering his phone.

I've pruned the grape vine and tidied up a flower bed. It was cold but sunny outside.

Evening all - you've been busy.

Aah - the days of trying to outwit a cat when it comes to taking them to the vet or the cattery... I remember them well. Amazing how big they can make themselves when trying to squidge them through the carrier door😁

@Dovefromabove - hope your son's car is ok after the engine rebuild. Fortunate that he's been able to borrow a car otherwise, I assume, there's no way he could do his job.

We've been busy doing tree work this morning. Pollarded one of the three hazels that forms the screen between us and our neighbour so there's now a big gap in the middle and the lawn is covered in branches. Hopefully, the gap won't take too long to fill in this summer. The other 2 trees were pollarded in previous years so all three have different amounts of growth and fullness to them. They should now be easier for me to manage on my own from the ground and I can thin each one on a three year rotation.

Bought a nice tool specially for the job. It's a Stihl battery mini chainsaw with a safety guard and all sorts of safety features (OH won't let me have a proper one!). It was absolutely brilliant for an hour. Went through the branches like a hot knife through butter and made really light work of the job. Then it suddenly stopped and wouldn't start up again. Fortunately we'd just about finished. Took it to a local Stihl workshop and they think the motor is faulty so it will have to go back under warranty. Was relying on that to get rid of the debris on the lawn. Hopefully the retailer will just replace it and we'll be good to go again in a few days.

We are obviously starting 2022 by breaking things....

T'Bird, have you had your unlucky three disasters yet. If not you need to break a match. I reckon you have had enough disasters for all of us though. You have been a real Lumberjill today haven't you? Hope there is no hassle about the replacement chain saw. That goes for your gloves too Hazel. When you say waterproof gloves do you mean like the sort mountaineers or skiers might wear? I can't think it would be Marigolds.
