Quiet New year for us too, no visitors and not going anywhere. I hate New Year anyway, and would very happily have an early night and sleep through, if it weren’t for neighbours letting off fireworks at midnight, ringing bells and cheering. That said, last night I was awake from 12.30 to 5am, so I’ll probably be awake anyway.
We don’t do anything for New Year either, we are all well after a small Christmas meet up. 12 year old had his second Jab yesterday, must see if he’s ok. That’s everyone in our family triple jabbed, little one double. How long’s this going on for. i can’t make up my mind if it’s warm or not. I do know it’s raining and foggy, must get on and do something, I go into a very lazy mode in the winter. Like the plants, it’s a time for relaxing and refreshing.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Morning all. The sun is out - thinking of doing a bit of gardening! Sort the pots out, plant the last pack of tulips... We never do anything for NYE. We used to valiantly stay up until midnight and then hug each other and jump around a bit but don't even do that now.
Morning all, just here! Lovely and mild today. We have been attacking the hawthorn in the mixed hedge, cutting the height down hoping it will grow more at the base. We shall also be at home for New Year, in fact I will most likely be in bed with my kindle come midnight. I hope you feel better soon @Busy-Lizzie.
We don’t do NYE either, but I’m sure some of the others in our valley will let us know when it’s midnight. 😡 I tripped over some overhanging bedding in the bedroom yesterday. Bruised knees, one eyebrows, clicky shoulder and my neck is out again. Darn it. I’ve been very quiet today. No painkillers need thank goodness. Just annoying to be slowed down. More knitting and watching continuous episodes of Death in Paradise. At least it’s relaxing and we’ve seen them all years ago so it’s fun to be reminded. Night all
Hi folks, Hope everyone had a good Christmas. We spent a day and a night at Secondborns and then went to Firstborns for Christmas Eve night and stayed until Boxing Day. Other than that haven't been out. Feeling much better now and looking forward to when I can drive (Jan 9th). Hoping to go out to Ashwoods tomorrow with Bestie. I finished Jonah's jumper before Christmas and haven't any knitting projects on the go at the moment. Have a rag rug to finish and lots of cross stitch I could do but I've been reading art books and experimenting with some Daniel Smith dot cards. Ordered far too many colours for my bank balance. For some reason I haven't got the gardening bug at the moment. Normally I would be ordering seed and planning what to grow in the Spring. Never been skiing, not really wanted to, but Secondborn has been a couple of times.
Mild here too @floralies : 20°C - in fact the doors and windows have been flung open for much longer than usual.
@Busy-Lizzie Golly gosh! I hope you are looking after yourself with plenty of grogs. Upset tummy is probably rather the norm at this time of the year. Stay warm (not that it is cold, is it?)
Did a load of washing and sure glad I did it too. OH hung it out this morning and with the light breeze blowing, much of it is nearly dry and in the conservatory, except for the elastic on leggings ....
Speaking of elastic. I made 2 elastic bands with hooks, for the FFP2 masks to fit around the head instead of the ears. Seems to be adequate.
A more peaceful night's sleep - no nocturnal risings. The pain was better managed and I slept with a bolster on the "bad" side - thank you @Lyn. Only once in the night did I hear "Amore" (my OH is Italian) as I was hugging the bolster, as he gently rolled me over!! Today is X-ray day and my neighbour is driving me as I am perhaps a little too doped up to be driving in city traffic. BTW @punkdoc I had reversed to dosage of paracetamol in my message yesterday - it should have read - 1 g during the day and the Codeine at night is 500mg paracetamol with 30mg codeine. Doh - and I'm not even blonde - must have been a senior moment!
We will have a nice "nibbles" meal tomorrow evening - oysters, some tarama, salad, cheese and bit and pieces (meaning a nice little Picpoul to wash down the oysters) and I will roast some lamb for me and make a vegetarian dish for OH for Saturday lunchtime. We do not stay up until midnight.
I hope everyone is enjoying this weather. and the day.

Best one ever, The Pogues at Rock City in Nottingham, not sure I made it home for a couple of days.
