Very windy here today.must be coming in from a different direction as there are frequent howling noises. Our side of the hill is usually quite sheltered, but the trees are waving about like mad.
Back to semi normality today, which means I have no idea what to do for lunch. Maybe resort to salad, use up some of the healthy stuff that didn’t get eaten while we were stuffing ourselves with roast potatoes. Niece and family spent Christmas with Covid, her husband finally able to get up for meal last night.
    Hope all keep well.

@punkdoc ... have you sent your weather over to us?   It's absolutely tipping down here, and quite blustery too ... and for some reason the washing machine is trying to walk across the kitchen floor ... do you think it's getting bored in its corner?

I've got the prep in hand for tonight's supper ... kedgeree ... one of OH's favourites and something a bit different from the cold meat, salads and pickles of the last few days, and I've taken a chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Tidying my workbench in the studio is next, after another coffee ...

Welcome @janetfoss  - where is North (for you)?

    Hello Tui.
I'm in N Yorks, not far from Harrogate.
It's a wet, dull day here so I'm listening to the radio whilst pootling on here.

Thank you all again for the lovely welcome.

Hello all, glad to see you have all survived the ravages of Christmas. Hello @janetfoss from down here in France! We have the same weather as you at the moment but looks good for the New Year.

Been down to the vets, a 50 mile round trip today as there's only one surgery working. Normally it's only a 10 mile round trip. Fun and games while I've been away eh?
Anyway, the little s*d has picked something up, been given antibiotics, some stuff to squirt down his throat to 'dry things up'. Her words and he needs it! Watch him carefully and if he worsens then get straight back.

Hi everyone. I’m just heading to bed.  We’ve been totally entertained watching old episodes of Death in Paradise.  I’d forgotten how much we used to enjoy it.   Great humour.

    best wishes to all.

    a good sign

Hello all, glad to hear Christmas seems to have gone OK for everyone - a few wobbles and late changes but nothing too disastrous so far

Quiet here, as expected. It rained here Christmas Day. I mean Really Rained. All day. It's not really let up since and now it's blowing a hooley to boot. We watched Don't Look Up - that made me laugh (Meryl Streep basically playing Donald Trump).

I took Jet (younger dog) out this morning for a quick blow through. Bumped into a small troop of mamils - out getting away from the in-laws at home, no doubt. Jenny (older dog) is feeling sorry for herself. She had a very swollen foot yesterday - best we can tell is she's licked it raw and got it infected  :/. We're managing it for now, off to the vets if it gets worse or she develops a temperature but it looks a little better today so fingers crossed she just needs rest to get over it.

Nieces arrived yesterday and we had a nice afternoon catching up, opening presents and watching old movies. They're out for the day today, visiting other relatives. We'll have the day together tomorrow and roast rib of beef for dinner then they go home on Thursday - makes a bit of a change to the routine. And the presents they brought were lovely - really thoughtful.

Keep safe and warm everyone (sorry Pat - keep cool :)

Restless night listening to the wind howling round the house and persistent rain.   It's calmer now but still raining so I shall carry on sewing OH's new fleece gilet thingy for golf.   Keeps the body warm without affecting his swing.  Apparently.

I hope your stream stays in bounds @punkdoc.  We have developed a nice wee leak in our roof so would like the wind and rain to change direction till a chappy can come and sort it out as it's beyond our reach.

Hope the ribs are a bit easier today @tui34.  In my experience they can take a while to settle down and be comfy again so be patient.

Good to see that wee Uff is on the mend.  We occasionally look after a rustier coloured version and he's certainly a lively chappy and runs rings round our older and larger doggies.

Leftovers for lunch here but fresh fish stew and champ for dinner.  I'd love a kedgeree @Dovefromabove but OH canna thole a hard-boiled egg.
