  • Oh @Liriodendron that’s grim for him. 😞 hope he can see his wife very soon.

They were talking to somebody either from the National Grid or one of the power distribution companies on TV this morning.  He was saying the disruption and damage to power supplies is 3 times worse than suffered during the Beast from the East.
  • We are due a scheduled power cut today, someone being connected.Might be cut off any moment!
Can't go anywhere, roads blocked, but thermoses filled and hot water bottles and wearing a ridiculous number of layers. Warming work planned and at least it is a nice bright day, so won't be in the dark.
I don't know whether it might even be re-scheduled if the storm has given them extra work. Here's hoping!
  • That's what I was thinking of @pansyface

I went on the register because I'm of pensionable age ... they asked and I said Yes ... seems a good idea ... I'm unlikely to need help as OH is younger and hale and hearty and we live near the city,  but you never know.

This may be of use to people in Wales and the South West if the worst should occur and they are classed as vulnerable. There are also links to local water companies in case supplies are affected.

    That is so sad @Balgay.Hill
  • We've had very rough weather on the North Norfolk coast ... I've a feeling the grey seal pups at Blakeney Point and elsewhere may have been hit.   :'(

I was in St Abbs last week to see the seals and their pups (from a safe distance).
There were a lot less than this time last year .... but it was so lovely to see the wee ones feeding with their mums.
So upsetting to think how many of them have perished.

I thought it was quite sad. A whole generation of pups killed by the storm.
