Stay safe everybody caught up in the storm.  Possessions can be replaced so don't take risks for them.  We're very fortunate here, well inland and fairly sheltered.

Thinking of you all at this frightening time.  Be careful clearing debris and broken material.  I hope you can get your power restored soon.

Well that was a bit of a blustery night, wasn't it? Very noisy here - I think Arwen just sideswiped us a bit. We are on the north side of the hill so it was roaring for a while in the small hours. OH has done a quick check this morning and nothing too severe - a few roof sheets blown off, some minor breakages. It wasn't exceptionally windy for us, just a relatively unusual direction - the worst gales are normally from the western quarter here - so the noises are different and more unsettling as a result. Got some sleep though, the power is on (touch wood), hail and sleet but no snow. It seems to be easing now.
Hope the rest of you are all OK.

  • All white here near Cheltenham, really heavy snow for November but at least the wind has dropped for a bit. I’ve had to move chairs tables etc from patio area as they were getting thrown around and I really didn’t want the lounge windows put in ! Also have pots and watering cans down the garden. But at least the power is still on here ...
hope those without power are doing ok

My journey was indeed interesting. Fallen tree meant a detour of around 30 miles and lots of bit of branches .

Morning all, a noisy night wasn't it. Woken up several times by the wind howling round the house, it seems to scream through the barge boards where there is a gap, sounds very eerie. I've had a quick look round (from inside the house!) and nothing seems to have been blown over, thank goodness (commiserations to those who have had damage). Just driven down to the local shop in a snowstorm as it was far too windy to walk and was amazed at the amount of traffic pouring into Bath. We've still got power which is a blessing so I'm having a coffee. Expecting my son to call in but he'll have a rough journey across country to get to his home in Bournemouth.

    Stay safe everyone.

A friend has just messaged to say he can't come and cut my hair until this afternoon and he's chasing around the garden retrieving polycarbonate sheets from his greenhouse.

  • Friends staying in a holiday cottage in Amble Northumberland have said that the garden wall has blown down, and they've just been down the high street for essentials.
    They say it's 'carnage'.
At least 6 houses with holes in the roof, slates and guttering everywhere and a chimney stack in the road.
Some houses have no power or water and it's still very windy .

Stay safe all you folks up there in the UK. We had wind and rain in the night but just our usual for down here. We tend to get our worst storms in the hot weather like earlier this summer with tiles off the roof and garden decimated.
