Good morning Hazel and RosieBB. Hazel, I like this time in the morning. Its usually peaceful and your cuppa can be really enjoyed. My Bestie hates early morning and thinks I'm weird! She goes to bed very late in the evening so all in all I think we get the same amount of sleep so it doesn't really matter.
RosieBB, I slept reasonably well last night thank you but woke up to heavy rain and another large puddle in the Crescent. I think we need the Council's gulley and drain cleaner to come along and sort this all out.

Morning all. We have a little sunshine but it's still blowing a hooley out there. Going to drop off some books for one of our ex-students then visit the log burner shop to see if they have rope, glue and glass cleaner for the log burner. Could also do to get some stamps (did the cards yesterday😇) and make another (un)healthy deposit at the bottle bank.

Hazel - hope the eye tests go ok. I found the testing equipment kept steaming up when wearing the mandatory mask. The optometrist was said it happens to everyone and prolongs the appt times considerably. In the end we just did a lot of it without a mask on. Picked up my new specs yesterday - very pleased with them - no adjustments needed.

Rubee - keep warm and quiet - hope you feel better soon.
    SGL - same for you!

LB - do you have a Royal Mail account? Is it worth logging in to it to see if you can retrieve yesterdays purchases.
Have you heard any more about your erroneous transfer of energy? We received the mandatory £30 compensation on Monday🙂

  • Hello all .... hope the weather's not too bad for anyone ... it's getting a bit blustery here but the sun's come out ... son said it was very windy yesterday manning the testing centre on Clacton seafront ... he thought he was going to be blown over ... good job he's a substantial chap!

    Good afternoon everyone!
T'Bird, I do have a Royal Mail account and have used it successfully in the past but I had a bit of a brainwave (desperation attempt) I have used Firefox as my browser for more years than I care to remember so I decided to try my Chrome browser instead and everything worked perfectly. A similar thing happened when I couldn't get onto the forum some years back. Mozilla have been tweaking Firefox and have succeeded in making it 10 times worse than it was and there are some obvious glitches. I checked the help/support page and the language on there from American users was Anglo Saxon/Germanic/Scandinavian and anywhere else we get our profanities from, to put it mildly. I've emailed Royal Mail to let them know I managed to get my stamps printed off so my blood pressure is now returned to normal. I had an amble up to the post box - dodging the rain - to get my cards on their way.
Hazel, it sounds like you had fun today at the optometrists.

p.s. T'Bird, I should have added that I haven't heard anything yet about my erroneous transfer. The EHU said it could take a few weeks and they are going to let me know when they hear from Together Energy(Boo!). It has now been almost 3 months.

Ha ha Hazel. That predictive text is a bit of a pain at times but not to worry, I think we could work out what you were on about. Hope your OH's eyes are not too sore now after all the testing and just think how useful that will have been to the young trainee.
T'Bird, I got an email from EHU regarding my 'erroneous transfer' shortly after I posted on here. They must have heard me! To be honest I am more confused than ever. There is no personal info in the email bit I am going to copy and paste here just to give you a flavour of how muddling this situation is:

"Further to my email dated 30 November, Together Energy has confirmed they have contacted British Gas to instigate returning your gas and electricity via the erroneous transfer (ET) process.

Together Energy states British Gas accepted the electricity ET request on 20 November so it should return to the company soon.

Together Energy states British Gas rejected their gas ET request.  Together Energy has resent the ET request.

I have also contacted British Gas asking them to liaise with Together Energy to ensure your supplies return to them as soon as possible.

Together Energy states they can't cancel the pending direct debit payment due to the erroneous transfer not being actioned.  If this payment has been deducted you can ask your bank to return it to you via an indemnity claim."
I believe Together Energy about as much as I believe Bojo!
