Morning everyone, sorry been AWOL for the last couple of days. Felt quite low with this cold bug, but feel more like me again this morning. Still a bit tired, but much better. It's a very frosty morning today, looks very chilly outside. Not read back yet, hope @Rubee and @Ladybird4 are feeling better. And Mrs Biglad too. Hope everyone else is keeping well, take care everyone.
Off to get some breakfast, see you later everyone, have a good day.
Power is sort of back on but keeps flicking off. We've made tea so that's the important thing sorted! Now have to decide whether I trust it to stay on long enough to have a shower. May end up covered in soap with a dribble of cold water. It's happened before...🤪
Are you thinking about tackling tge shops LB? Two Saturdays before Christmas? Are you mad girl?😩🤪😁

@Topbird .... our bathroom is free ... please help yourself ... but be careful .. don't do what I just did ... our shower is over the bath ... the bath is slippy so we have a silicon bath mat ... every so often they go mouldy so we get a new one ... this time we couldn't get one exactly the same as the previous ones ... this one is longer and takes longer to unroll and press down to make sure it's gripping ... I was in a rush ... I hadn't fixed the mat down properly ... it slipped ... I slipped ... I did a sort of acrobatic sideways roll as I fell (think Tom Daley) and whacked my left cheekbone and left hip ... thankfully OH heard the commotion and bad language and came and gently hauled me out ... I have been smothered with arnica, dressed and put on the sofa to recover ... I feel such an idiot ... I've been thinking that's exactly what would happen if I wasn't careful 🙄
I'll have to go without a shower today ... sorry folks
Both wrists and left little finger feel sore too

Sorry about the power cut @Topbird, what a nuisance. Can the shower wait until tomorrow?
@debs64 I agree with Hazel. I think the lady at work is being very selfish and should not be allowed in until she has been vaccinated or at least tested.
My friend, who is organising this afternoon's Carol Service, has terrible back ache and won't be able to come. I think the helpers should manage though, but it's a shame for her. She loves it. I don't think there will be many there, people are getting nervous about Covid again. The French figures were low but they've suddenly shot up.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Dove, I'm sorry to hear about your bathroom accident. I hope that all bruises will heal quickly.
Hazel, you had such productive day. Take a rest, have a cup and enjoy your tree. I still didn't buy my potted tree.
Here was another boring day. I read book and watched little bit tv and now I have my tea. Outside is still pretty much awful. At least snow stopped. I still didn't have my tree, but I can temporary instal australian type tree.
Good afternoon all. Ouch ouch Dove. It can be especially scary when you start to think about the 'what ifs'. It was a situation somewhat similar to that which made me convert my bathroom to a shower room and I'm so glad that I did. I hope that your bruises subside quickly.
Hazel, you have been busy as well today but you have got a lot of useful tasks done. I have got a lot of my dekkies up but I'm not finished yet.
Ante, I love your Australian Christmas tree. I had a long talk with my brother over there on Thursday before I went to Bestie's and it was only 40°C 🥵 ha ha.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Hi everyone. Thank you, I do feel much better now.
Ouch @Dovefromabove, that must have hurt. Do hope you've rested today. I would imagine you're going to have a few colourful bruises tomorrow. Hope you haven't broken your fingers, sounds painful. Take care, have a restful evening. @Topbird hope you've got water this evening and are able to have a bath/shower. @Songbird-1 you've had a busy day. I've put the tree up too today, I'll do the rest tomorrow. When I was going through one of the boxes @Ladybird4 I found the little knitted trees I made last year, when we all made a Christmas decoration. That doesn't seem a year ago......its gone far too fast! Haha @Ante30 love your Australian tree 🎄 @debs64 I agree with Hazel and Busy Lizzie too. That lady is very selfish and shouldn't be allowed back to work. Do hope she takes a test and gets vaccinated.
Evening all. Power restored mid morning. Apparently it's a pretty major fault which will take several days to sort out so they've brought in a huge generator and connected that to the grid.
Hazel - it's definitely not just the north which endures long power cuts. I mentioned that a couple of years ago we had an outage which lasted 48 hrs due to storm damage. We were fortunate. Some small rural communities were without power for nearly 2 weeks. I think it was 2016. We certainly had no phone / internet for well over 2 weeks but at least that was more inconvenient than life threatening.
Dove - ouch. Hope you're not too sore this evening. Have you investigated those little stick on dots you can buy to make the surface non slippery?
