@Ante I laughed out loud too. Maybe Americans don't recognise our fridges, I think they tend to be smaller. Some are hidden behind fitted kitchen cupboard doors and, in old houses, some are in the pantry. When I lived in England in an old farmhouse my fridge was in the pantry.

I've decorated my little tree, arranged the crib in the unused fireplace (will get a woodburner there one day), and made the pew decorations for the Carol Service tomorrow, which is the one I used to go to before I moved. I went to the local one tonight. The choir wasn't there. Because of Covid they have disbanded for the winter. There were only about 40 people there. It's a big church and it used to be full.

Good morning everyone .I have been awake for a couple of hours .Ante I laughed too .Your post brought to mind my grans house when I was small .In those days there were no  domestic fridges.
Gran had a huge cellar and part of the cellar she called the keeping cellar .It had a large stone slab that looked like a table .On that she kept milk ,cheese , milk curds and other perishables .Standing at the side of that was a meat safe . A metal box on legs with a wire mesh door to let air in and keep any little creatures out .Surprisingly food rarely went off .
Busy I used to love decorating the church for Christmas . There was a team of ladies at our local Methodist church that did the Christmas decs .We used branches of holly in the window recesses and red and white candles in silver holders on the sills. There were other decorations but the holly and candles were my favourites. I am going to see if I can get a couple of hours sleep .Enjoy your day everyone .

Good morning all. Busy day today, fiancé is off to the Bike show at NEC I am working this morning then seeing daughter and Thomas for lunch and the afternoon.
Wirk a bit stressful as the lady whose husband has covid should be back on Tuesday but she is refusing to test before she comes back. She is unvaccinated as is her husband. I am not worried for myself I reckon my antibodies are pretty good still but other staff members are very concerned, and I am worried for them. Hoping she sees sense.
    Have a good Saturday everyone

Good morning Ruby and Debs. Sorry you appear to have had a poor night's sleeping Ruby - maybe you are asleep now. I do hope there are no consequences from this lady's return to work Debs.

I didn't see SGL yesterday so I do hope that she hasn't been laid low by that cold she had.
Ruby, your description of your Gran's cellar reminded me of the 'larder' my great aunts had. It wasn't a cellar but a tiny room off the kitchen. You could get frostbite going into it it was so cold and every surface seemed to be made of marble. The dairy produce and meats used to be stored in there and nothing seemed to go 'off' at all.
My Bestie used to arrange the flowers for her Church (the Methodist Church where the new foodbank operates from) for many years but once her Mum started to become more frail and her granddaughter arrived the flowers had to take a back seat (Ante - means she doesn't do it any more at the moment).

Morning all. Sort of awake but it's very cold and very dark. We have no power this morning so no lights, no central heating and (worst of all,) no early morning cup of tea without going outside to the camper van to use the gas stove in there☹️

I am pretty useless without my first cup of tea so might go back to sleep. At least it's warm in bed.

Thank goodness for mobile internet. I've been able to report the outage & should get some updates. Looks like quite a big one affecting several villages.

Good morning Rubee, debs, LB and all to follow.

LB, happy birthday to your BIL. Have a nice day; he will certainly appreciate your gift.

Debs, have a nice afternoon and lunch with your daughter and Thomas.

Extremely windy morning, with some snow. I think that it will be day to stay indoor. I don't know exactly what to do today, but tea is first for sure.

Good morning T'Bird and Ante. T'Bird that is bad news for sure. I cannot imagine NOT being able to have my first cup of tea in the morning (well without the faff anyway) I hope that you get connected really soon. It does make you realise how dependent you are on the energy companies. I couldn't begin to imagine how hideous it must have been for the people oop North who were without power for over a week. I am just creating a shopping list!
