Morning. The wind forecast changed overnight and we are having some strong gusts. Need to go out to rescue some debris like pots and move some furniture/bins etc. Take care all.
Good morning to you all and a special thought to you who have had to go through the storms and snow of last night. I hope @TheGreenMan has been able to get out and suss out the damage and get a hot cuppa. I have been reading back on that thread!
Calm for us today with the sun trying its best to come out. Temperatures low and will be now for a while. Rain again during the night but seems to have stopped .
So, we'll fleece the lemon tree before the wind gets up - no sign of minus temperatures yet, but one frost and everything is burnt.
I hope the "storm troopers" have a fruitful day clearing up. I watched the events on BBC this morning. Take care.
Thank you all for the suggestions -- will check out muck boots !
Have a look at Grubs as well - basically the same as muckboots but generally cheaper and they have lightweight ones too. I've had some for a year now and they haven't split yet (I wear them every day for dog walking so usually kill wellies in about 6 months). OH has broken his but he wears them pouring concrete all day. I couldn't be accused of having skinny calves though

OH is off to work ... he's doing a short shift today 11-3 ... I shall assemble a lasagne for supper. Yesterday he abandoned DIY for the role of Under Gardener and cleared the veg patch of the runner bean teepee and the remains of the squash patch, weeded the Cavalo Nero and covered the garden seats with their winter coats. 😍
Thankfully we in East Anglia have seen nothing of the storm ... so far ... although temperatures have dropped like a stone and I woke this morning with feet like blocks of ice ... I've made the bed and replaced the 4.5 tog duvet with the midweight one and the snuggly cellular blanket.
The birds have noticed the drop in temperature too ... they're all over the feeders this morning after having been conspicuous by their absence for quite a while.

Morning all. Just awaiting a potential customer who is popping by to have a look at some of my jewellery for his wife's Christmas present. He's bringing his daughter so hopefully they will like one of the pieces I've laid out for them to look at. And I have booked in for a local craft fair (out in the sticks) in a couple of weeks time so hopefully I'll be able to sell some more jewellery there. Very conscious of how much stock I have and how many beads (semiprecious stones) and other jewellery making paraphanalia I need to start getting rid of. I also have a big box of alpaca yarn leftover from when I ran my craft shop - that needs photographing and getting onto ebay! But not today. Nice to see you are still alive @punkdoc. Sun has popped out but it's v.cold. Don't know when I'm going to get my pots sorted out and my tulip and allium bulbs in. Also some bare root papaver orientalis have arrived - need to get them into pots too, to overwinter.
I’m off to bed early. I’ve had a dose of MSG and I’m in agony. 😡. Waiting for the Telfast and Panadol to work. Hubby used some canned tomato in the Italian pasta dish tonight and didn’t realise it would affect me so highly. Should be ok by the morning, I hope.
Hope you are OK by the morning PatE. I can't take MSG either but all it does with me is give me a sort of pressure at the temples. Customer been and necklace sold! Yay!

Well done. Hopefully his wife will love it so much, she'll come back to you for more.
Be careful folks … it’s wet and slippy underfoot even here where we’ve not had the stormy weather. I just went out to fill the bird feeders and one foot went from under me and it was nearly a disaster … all because Id got smooth soled shoes on … daft
