Greetings Forkers.  Misty here with the sun trying but failing to burn through.  I have been on chook duty.  Scruffy has a gastric infection so is on meds and isolation and is now installed in the polytunnel which is warm and with meds in her food and water and a cosy bed plus dry soil for dust baths, cherries to munch and some weeds to peck at too.  She sat and burbled at me while I potted on the Cavolo Nero and PSBs.  Hope she gets better cos she's a character.

I have also scrubbed and disinfected the perch, shelves and nesting boxes in the hen house and scrubbed out the water container and added fresh cider vinegar and a product the vet gave me to help with gastric health for all of them.   The others are all well and happy and clucking about the place except Bess who squawks and chunters all day long.

OH is picking up our flu jabs to day @Busy-Lizzie and then we can go to the local nurses' office and get them done.  He has his Covid booster on the 4th and mine is booked for the 30th.

Didn't really see much TV last night and dozed thru most of Only Connect - have discovered it's exhausting having two sets of visitors in close succession after 2 years of none.  Great fun and much laughter but not used to it after all the lockdown and distancing.

Sorry you're feeling glum @punkdoc.  Maybe lay off the news for a while.

We've been watching Vigil, but I find it difficult to understand sometimes because of the Scottish accents.

No such problems here.  I loved Vigil.

Regarding mental health provision. I've been on the waiting list for Counselling since last December.
The day after I was told my Husband had 2 months to live, I received a letter to say that due to lack of money, my mental health team had been disbanded.
Have no fear, Bojo the Clown says he'll sort it out. Tories have been in power for 10 and it's a total shambles.

    Salutations to Forkers alike!

Busy times at the moment.  Had an X-ray of my hip this morning, that was operated on in 2017.  45 minutes in the clinic with 5 minutes of that actually getting the X-ray!  An appointment with the surgeon is for next week.   Will be the same waiting around.   Just a 2 yearly check up.  Also 3rd jab today plus pick up the flu' jab from the chemist.  So it's tidy up the kitchen and get going again.  Maybe have a day off tomorrow!! (After the library!!)

Still having amazing weather!  Good for school holidays but lots of people about.

I hope you are having an enjoyable day.

  • Hello all,

Sorry to hear you're feeling down @punkdoc, but I can understand why. Like others I just note the headlines and not much more, all too frustrating and depressing.

We're enjoying gorgeous weather and have been hiking today around Col de Soulier, really lovely. 😎

Having a late lunch, how novel, in a tiny bistro/bookshop. (No pun intended) 😅 Homemade tomato and chick pea soup in an enormous deep bowl. Surrounded by lots and lots of lovely books.

Boots had run out of flu jabs, but I enjoyed shopping in Morrisons. Salmon for dinner with sugar snap peas. Rarely see sugar snaps in Dordogne. The shelves weren't empty as the newspapers would have you believe. Better choice of veg than in my local French SM.

  • Hi everyone,  late reporting today,  no special reason.  Managed some strimming on the Allotments,  but my elbow is letting me know it's not happy.  My Acer man is coming tomorrow so hopefully a dry day.

    Evening all.

Food reports of the day sound/look good. Just a SM curry here tonight.

Finding the dark mornings hard going this week. Should be dry tomorrow though, so puppy walk on the cards.

Listened to Prof Brian Cox on radio this morning - new series starts tomorrow called ‘Universe’ BBC2.

Stay safe and enjoy the little autumn treats where you can.

  • Wonderful day with Charlie. Weather beautiful.
