Back from the meeting. Lots of talk about how the money should be spent and rough estimates of costs for each project. But the new thing is a scheme where local businesses can open a storefront on a centralised website. Customers within the area the website covers can browse all of the goodies in the different shops' stores and add them to their basket. The shop gets the goodies from their shop packed up and someone comes and collects all the orders, collates them from a central distribution point and delivers to the customer. So I could buy a couple things from shops in Bungay and the surrounding market towns and have them all delivered to me! Saving petrol and car parking charges! And it means if there is one thing I can only buy in Beccles say, I wont be going to Beccles for that thing and buying the other things I would have bought in Bungay there. So it really benefits both the shops and the customers. Also benefits the shops because people might buy something from a shop they don't usually use then wonder what else that shop sells, prompting a personal visit to the shop. The company that organises all this has its start-up (in that area) funding provided by the district authority in that area and our district authority has agreed to the funding. The company is one I contacted a while ago and put in touch with the right person from the district authority, which is why I'm super pleased.
That really is a feather in your cap @didyw 🥂 ... what a fantastic sounding scheme! Is Halesworth in the area covered? If so I can imagine that several friends in my old village will be very interested.

Bonjour from la belle France, we are still on the Euorostar, at the moment. It's very fast only took 40 min to reach the tunnel. It's saying on the screen we are doing 270 kph doesn't feel like it. Regards to all.
That 'goodnight' really confused me until I realized it was coming from Oz @Pat E. Been reasonably busy today, usual 1 hr walk to fetch the paper, then a really relaxing back and shoulder massage and a good gossip with my beautician. She's the same age as my daughter and I've been seeing her regularly for over 25 years. We get on really well. After lunch we had a double glazing chappie come to advise on a new en-suite window - I can no longer reach the opening handle without climbing onto a footstool so need it reconfigured to make it safer. He told us they are so fully booked it won't be fitted until next Spring. Gosh.
That news does sound exciting @Didyw, let's hope it all works out okay.
Pleased to hear your new neighbours are much nicer than the old ones @Punkdoc and I hope you're getting some enjoyment quietly pottering round your garden in the sunshine.
@Dovefromabove, I'm sure that whatever your OH is doing, it will be well worth it in the end.
I have been a member for about a year now, but don't often post. I'm not shy, I just don't really know if it's appropriate to storm on in and introduce myself.
I read all your posts, with interest, especially this one as i love hearing about your everyday lives.
I log in every morning and feel that I have friends that I have never met.
Apart from your outstanding advice and knowledge on all things horticultural, i just feel really comforted by your wholesomeness as a group of people.
I am quite late to gardening, couldn't tell a crocus from a carnation until about 6 years ago, then I just woke up one day and it hit me!!! There is nothing better than being in your own outside space, listening to the birds and watching things grow. Now I am addicted.
I live in Wiltshire, in a village outside Bath, I am 50 (good god) and I would dearly love to be part of your lovely community.
Hello @odetobillyjoe and welcome … very good to meet you 😊… you already feel like one of us … so glad you’ve popped in … have a ☕️ and a piece of 🍰 …. it’s that time of evening 😉 Looking forward to hearing about the inconsequential stuff and anything else you want to share 😊
