Hi there @odetobillyjoe - good to “meet” you.  Bobbie Gentry references always make me smile 😊.  My sister thought that “I’ll never fall in love again” was the saddest song ever because the poor lady had broken her arm (sister was three).  Still have the vinyl single in my Dad’s record collection, complete with its paper sleeve.

Back from a lovely, lovely day.  All the WD garden team (including volunteers) were treated to a private visit to Sarah Raven’s garden, which is still looking glorious in mid October.  She has such an eye for colour.  Just gorgeous, and such a treat.

Then, coz I don’t get over that way very often, I finished the day with a visit to Sissinghurst.  Had it nearly to myself.  Very atmospheric - could almost hear Vita whispering in my ear.

So home now, with a case of sensory overload 🤯

What a smashing day @chicky. Not been to Sarah Raven's but have been to Sissinghurst a couple of times, always stunning.

Welcome @odetobilliejo, I was born in a Wiltshire village just outside Bath so something in common already.

Never mind @Hostafan1, you're still younger than me!

  • Evening all and hello to @odetobillyjoe

Thank you all for the boost/support, feeling a bit better now, although still not my usual buzzing self. Definitely a combination of all you said, season changing/ not as busy as summer and therefore not quite so much adrenalin flowing etc. etc. I feel a bit like I think a retired footballer might feel - missing the roar of the crowd and the glory that a great day/goal brings. Working hard on Christmas plans though and a few orders trickling in now so that is helping.

I met Charlie for an unplanned lunch today (poorly teacher so an extra hour out of school), we had a lovely time and we have booked some tickets to a Soirée Abendbrot for Friday, organised by the committee of our twin towns - St. Yrieix/ Bad Windsheim. He is going there on his school trip next year so seems like a good plan to get to know all about it.

Glad your new neighbours seem ok @punkdoc, big relief I am sure.
@Hostafan1 sleep has to be good, don't feel guilty, just enjoy.
    @Dovefromabove project sounds interesting.
Well done @didyw, all good news.
@Busy-Lizzie Happy to read you saw your daughter, I hope it went well.

I am off to bed now, exhausted despite not doing very much today, a lot of computer time, I'd much rather be running about, but creating flyers and posters and sharing all over social media is a necessary evil. On Thursday I am getting dressed up and with one of my really chirpy, bubbly waitresses we're going around all the local businesses with our little pack of 'What's On' leaflets and menus. We are running an advert on the radio too at the moment, so we're hoping to reinforce that message.

    Anyway, good night all.

@D0rdogne_Damsel  😂 How have I made the project sound interesting? It really is repairing cracks in the walk in (under stairs) crockery and baking cupboard … I grew up in a dusty old farmhouse and have what I think is a healthy disregard for dust, but OH thinks we ought to try to prevent dust of unknown origin getting into our mugs, plates and cake tins … he’s probably right 🙄, so it’s all being thoroughly vacuumed, cracks sealed, then boarded over and painted.

Completely bushed so night night everyone … sleep tight, don’t let the bugs bite … 🛌

    Hello @odetobillyjoe and welcome.

I think you thrive on being super busy @D0rdogne_Damsel, maybe it's too quiet for you now that summer is past. How is the Ch du Gat's garden?

I've finished planting my 350 daffodils, but I've run out before planting under the fruit trees. Will have to buy some more. Started weeding flower beds. Planted minnow daffodils in them.

Hope you have a great time @Allotment Boy …..looking forward to pics of Giverny.

Off volunteering today.  Looks like it will be a good drive over the Downs.  Then this evening we have James Alexander-Sinclair giving a talk at our Garden Club.  I’ve heard him talk before and he really makes me laugh, so looking forward to an entertaining evening.
