Busy day of buzzing round motorways here. Off to Southampton in a minute to take my Dad to his flu jab/Covid booster appointment, then we are meeting my sisters for lunch. Today would have been Mum’s birthday, so we like to raise a glass 🍻.
Then back home in time to head up to London with all the things littlest chicklet has decided she needs in her new flat - washing airer, rug, long mirror ….. stuff she couldn’t manage on a train. Will go for something to eat up there too. So today is not a diet day 😳.
Just getting ready to do our lateral flow tests before son visits … then we realised we’d just had a cuppa so need to wait half an hour … I put the kettle on so I could have a ☕️ while I waited …. 🙄 🤪
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hi everyone, Have finally got into the garden today. Sorted out last years bulb pots and added violas, don't know if the bulbs will be any good but I have a lot of new bulbs to plant in pots and they can be replaced in the Spring. I've also decided to be a bit more thrifty this year and have decided to try and overwinter my begonias and nemesia so have potted them up and put them in the greenhouse. Still have so much to do in the garden but at least I've made a start. Waiting for a delivery of some art materials so I'll probably be playing with new paints this afternoon. Hope everyone is OK.
I have lots of nemesia and begonias in my pots and am interested to know how you overwinter them. The begonias have been amazing this year and are still looking lovely. My greenhouse is unheated by the way.
Morning folks, bit late I didn't get up till ,7 was still awake at 2. Got the dishwasher and washing done. 20c yesterday and not a puff of wind, not a cloud in sight, looking like more of the same today.
@Dovefromabove, that sculpture is magnificent. I’d love it if we had something similar near us though I do like the sculpture garden at Burghley House.
Always put off till tomorrow what you don’t have to do today is my motto, and it frequently bites me on the bum. Much of today will be spent doing my Italian homework ready for tomorrow’s class. Why do I never work on these exercises on grey, miserable days? Still, I finished jet washing the terrace yesterday and I am pleased with the results.
Am I the only one on this forum who seldom gets out of bed before 9.00 and will slouch around until mid morning before doing anything productive? I’m an idle sod. In retirement I like to alternate my days between doing sod all and bugger all.
@cvh it would be better if you started a new discussion about your begonias, it will get lost in this general chat thread, Click on ‘New Discussion’ at the top right and follow directions from there. 🙂
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
@BenCotto OH gets up and makes tea just before 9am. We listen to the news on the radio then check out forums. Both retired, no point in rushing to do anything now, good saying in West Country, ‘we’ll do that dreckly’ That could be in a minute, end of the week, end of the month. OH settled into retirement very well.

Haha, BenCotto, we are the same. One of the reasons we tend to go out for breakfast so often, is because the alternative involves bringing our breakfast back to bed and finding ourselves still there at 10am. We have a pile of urgent jobs to do today, but the sun was shining, so instead, we are sitting in the cafe at the Donkey Sanctuary, yet again, full of coffee and pastry, and nearly ready for a walk round the fields. I’ve already petted two dogs as well, so this is going to be a good morning.
