It was raining early but been gorgeous for the rest of the day. Still 23c in here. It’s a long journey Dove, I used to drive up to Clacton quite often and then on to Sandringham to see my cousins.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Only rained for a few minutes while I was in the supermarket, so that was nice timing. Breakfast at the Donkey Sanctuary yet again, followed by an hours walk round the fields. We find it a great way to combine some exercise with some uninterrupted conversation, discuss plans and generally unwind. Too many distractions at home, always stuff to put in the washing machine or dishwasher, or other chores to do, so really healthy to have that one to one time in lovely surroundings. There seems to be some Memorial Day happening, as there were pretty little posies of flowers, or single red roses, on many of the dedicated benches or trees. I have to be careful not to read any of the dedication plaques, made that mistake in the past and ended up blinded by tears before I’d got very far. Spent the rest of the day hauling laurel prunings back to the front of the house, and shredding them for the green bins. Both nearly full, so even if it rains all day tomorrow as forecast, we should be able to top them up by Wednesday. Feet up, and a well deserved cuppa now.
Hi everyone, we managed a walk up the farm today, had a coffee on the lower patio at home. Just went in to make lunch, and it rained hard, makes a change for us to time it so well 😊 The sun reappeared so we managed a couple of hours in the garden. So a good day all round. @Desi_in_London yes you can study on your own and just do the exams. Get a copy of the syllabus from the RHS, there is a standard text edited by Bamford and Early, which covers all you need. As Obelix said to Chicky, you have to give them what they want, it is clearly laid out what they want you to know. I said this before but it bears repeating, one of our class complained that the lecturer was "advocating the use of pesticides " . He was at pains to point out he was not , the syllabus required you to know about all the methods of pest control, but it was our choice of which to use.
Happy Octoberiness to All Fellow Forkers! *I'd rather celebrate this start to the month than all that hyped-up twaddle & rank silliness that occurs around 'tother end.....Nuff said.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
