Good morning all. Nice day at spa yesterday although middle daughter rather stressed ( the wedding is on Sunday) she thinks her dad may be splitting from his partner-and the girl who did my facial was very chatty which I disliked, normally I love a chat but not when I want to relax.
Fiancé is home and off for a couple of days so we may see a film later after running last minute wedding errands today.
LB festive cake smells delicious I think though not one I like to eat. Does that make sense? Fiancé loves it though so maybe I should try making a small one. Any tips to keep it moist?
Top bird hope the cough improves soon I know there’s a nasty cold doing the rounds we are all more vulnerable because we have been so protected for so long.
Good morning everyone . TBird ,sorry to hear about your cough.Look after yourself .LB , the colours in your pick are lovely .Debs try to get some rest before the big day at the weekend .Sorry to hear about middle daughters dad .I love festive cake that has been fed with port , and a nice piece of cheddar cheese to go with it ,yummy.
Good morning Debs and Ruby. Debs, I can understand the wanting silence when you are trying to relax. Not that I ever want to go to a spa, I would expect the atmosphere to be calm and quiet. My Bestie likes that kind of stuff, spas, facials etc. I would have to have a general anaesthetic to go - and even then I'd hate it! I'd far rather buy a plant. Each to her own.
As Ruby has hinted at Debs, you lace the cooked cake with a good spirit of your choice - I've used brandy on these two. Ruby, my Bestie loves cheese with her cake.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning everyone, it's absolutely pouring down here again this morning. Feeling rather tired this morning, didn't sleep well last night. Oh yummy @Ladybird4 your cakes look delicious. 😋😋 Glad you had a lovely day @debs64 shame the girl was so chatty when you wanted to relax and enjoy the facial. Sorry to hear about your daughters dad, not something she wants to worry about so close to her wedding. Have a lovely day with fiance. Hope everyone in the quiet corner is ok. Hope to see you all soon. Have a lovely day everyone.
Just cut my hair with the help of mirrors. My favourite hairdresser is in Norfolk and I've had too many disastrous cuts in France.
That's my favourite sort of cake LB, but I rarely have it. Gave up making Ch*****as cakes a few years ago as the family don't eat them. I like brandy and Bristol Cream sherry in them.
LB the cakes look lovely. I do love a slice of * cake with cheese delicious. Debs do hope things work out for your daughters dad and can be sorted. Busy I’ve been cutting my hair for three years now. I prefer it after some disastrous haircuts by hair stylists, shreek!? Hazel I hope things will soon pass regarding the gardening next door. Lily I had some micro chips this afternoon, which Rubee had given me ready, in 2mins 40secs. It made a quick snack before tidying up after Alfie. Topbird I hope your cough is a little better. Do you have some cough mixture?
Afternoon all. Feeling very weary after another broken night of coughing. I sound like our local muntjac barking away. Fed up with it now and my chest is sore. Doesn't seem to be developing into anything though and it's not too bad during the day - just when I lie down. I do have some cough mixture @bluebellsinthewild - but it's not doing much.
Christmas cakes look good LB. Am I the only one who gets slightly irritated when all the seasonal stuff starts creeping in to remind me of all my shortcomings on the festive front? Had a thing in the post from Joules last week gaily announcing only 100 days to Christmas. I ripped it into tiny pieces - which made me feel better for about 10 seconds.
Have been (not) busy this morning contributing to the various threads involving the new forumite who is causing problems on various threads. She has been posting so much rubbish - very misleading and inaccurate information which is bad news for new and inexperienced gardeners seeking guidance. The threads always seem to end up as nasty slanging matches. Sigh! At least I haven't sunk to those depths yet.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It's been quite a busy day today. I've mowed the lawn with the tractor mower and all the fiddly bits with the battery mower, also mowed the verges up the drive, the small donkey paddock and the path to the little river through the hayfield.
Nearly finished digging my new jewel bed and digging in lots of compost.
P came and has cleaned out the wood burning oven, even dismantled the chimney pipes and cleaned them, then he cleaned out the house gutters and replaced 2 tiles on the roof. I paid him. He and my handyman, CB, are going to grout the stones on the outside walls of the dining room and the sand, in big bags, and cement arrived today. Fascinating watching the chap using the crane to unload it all.
Plumber came and showed me how to regulate the new electric radiators in the new study and utility room. I'd read the instructions and pressed the buttons but nothing happened, plumber did it so easily.
Weight loss is a lost cause for me at the moment, my children keep wining and dining me! Going to Son 1 this weekend.
I've just lit the stove. Can feel the warmth on my back as I type.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hmmm chips 😋😋 You've been a very busy Lizzie @Busy-Lizzie You'll sleep well tonight. Still haven't been able to cut the grass, it's rained most of the day. Managed to nip to the village shops between showers to get some milk. Have no idea where I'll go for C#*i$tm@$ shopping, hardly anywhere left to go 😓 Hope they all know what they want 😉🤞 Feels a bit chilly this evening
