Good morning all. Pleased your OH slept well Rubee. I had a nightmare about the wedding nobody was ready and we ran out of time.
Lovely day with Thomas yesterday although he has a cold so wanting lots of cuddles. Nanny was happy to oblige.
In work all day today. Grey here but better weather is forecast.
@Ladybird4 have you read the Richard Osman books? Thursday murder club? I think you would enjoy them. Intelligent and amusing writing.
Hope you all have a good Wednesday
  • Hello all from Wrose carpark … (it’s our ‘corner shop’). OH is in there getting provisions for the journey as we’d rather not use the motorway service areas if avoidable … we’ll take some filled rolls, a flask of black coffee and lots of water.
Then it’s home to finish the packing, dose on the sofa then get an early night.
Must remember to take Hostafan’s plant this time … we left it on our porch step last time and that was two years ago … it has been potted on a couple of times since then 🙄

    Morning all.

I hope you feel better today @Yviestevie. There is a tummy bug in France too, 4 of my grandchildren have had it, different families.

Sunny outside, I've gardening to do.

My handyman is here. He's been cutting the Leylandii hedge.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Morning Ruby, Debs, Dove and Busy. I've just got in from 'sco and it only started raining just as I was getting into my car! I'm jinxed I tell you! I did have to rescue some potted 'mums - 2 white and 2 yellow at 0.50p each. Total bargain. I've just stuck them outside the back door for now - until it stops raining! Ruby, pleased to hear your OH had a good night's sleep last night. He will feel all the better for it. Debs, I thought it was only the bride-to-be who had such nightmares! By the way, thanks for the info about Richard Osman. I really like him and I will take a look at that book. Could get it on my e reader. Busy, enjoy your sunshine and I hope that your handyman gets the Leylandii beaten into submission.

  • Yvie I hope you’re feeling better now.  Enjoy your break.  Busy I’m glad you had a good result.  LB the joys of early morning shopping when it’s quiet.  Good bargains there.  Dove good to avoid motorway services if you can.  I’ve washed my hair and was on the phone to dad and my hearing went.  It must have been water.  It’s popped now so back to normal.

    Afternoon all,

Just having a break for a jaffa cake (energy required) and 10-minute browse.

Clocked an 18-hour working day yesterday. Living the dream :D I'm hoping to restrict it to a mere 12 today so I can fall asleep in front of some football later on.

When I tell folk that I do short-term contracts and don't want to work 12 months (7 months is the optimum) of the year, they reckon I'm a lazy so-and-so but I defy anyone to cope with this volume of work over a long period or be stupid enough to think that it constitutes any kind of life.

I'm contracted for 2 more weeks after this one. I may end up working a further 3 after that. Then I won't accept any more job offers until at least January. Don't care how much £££ they offer. Some things are more important. So there!  ;)

Tell 'em like it is @Biglad! Modern day slavery springs into mind. 18 hours is a ridiculous working day and what's to say you are going to be 100% focused for that length of time? Any further work done on the fence? If you watched Chelsea last night you will have heard mentioned its been a grim year for tomatoes with low temperatures at crucial times leading to fruits remaining unripened on the vine and lots of blight about too. I did think of you when temperature was mentioned.

Well it would be slavery if I wasn't getting paid so well @Ladybird4 ;) I didn't see any TV last night - my eyes were going square enough with two laptops in front of me :o

I picked the right year for my first tomato-growing attempt then :D:D:D I've managed to pick exactly 18 lovely, little red toms so far. What a haul :o
