Morning everyone, A misty morning at the moment and a bit cooler too. @Rubee do hope Jim is ok, probably a little bruised, but hopefully otherwise ok. What lovely neighbours you are, very kind of you both. I remember you helping him a little while ago too. Hope you both got back to sleep quickly and are still in the land of nod. Have a restful day. @Biglad my OH is watching the golf too 😁 Hoping to get the grass cut today once it dries out from the heavy dew. Have a lovely day everyone.
Good morning all. Very busy day yesterday but wedding went well and the sun shone most of the day. It’s gorgeous here this morning maybe get a few hours in the garden but feeling very tired.
Enjoy your walk @Songbird-1. I have done a few bits but garden is looking very overgrown and untidy. I keep telling myself it’s good for wildlife and actually it’s full of bees etc but really I am being lazy.
LB I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to Jacks to celebrate his 91st birthday, how lovely. Songbird I’ll have to look up theWeigela tree on images, good that it’s in flower. Biglad Azaleas are lovely and colourful plants. Enjoy planting them.
I've had a few hours in the garden (where does the time go?) but don't feel like I've got that much done
I did extend the 'wet border' and planted a Kalimeris Incisa 'Blue Star' at the highest end. It's a continuation of the experiment with the corner that becomes a pond after any significant rainfall. Blue Star was pot-bound so I needed to do something with it. May as well be the brave volunteer to go in first The forecast suggests that I'll be finding out how it copes pretty soon.
Potted on a Perovskia 'Blue Steel' as that had roots poking out as well.
I couldn't shift the fence post by use of rope and brute force so might have to invest in something to try whacking it
The azalea were little ones @bluebellsinthewild - 4 for £10 so probably won't be getting planted out until next year.
At least the garden waste bin in now relatively full for emptying on Wednesday.
Hello everybody. What a nice day its been here. I think it was my Indian Summer. Did you manage to get your grass cut SGL? Debs, your garden won't be untidy and it will be a wildlife haven. Keep thinking like that. Pleased to hear that the wedding went well
Hazel, it sounds as if your plants are very confused with this freaky weather and it must have been horrid finding the dog dirt on your lawn.
Biglad, the gentle pottering you have done in the garden today will reward you next year. I wish I could offer advice about the fence post. I suppose its too hard for you to put your back up to it and apply some brute force?
My green bin is ready for emptying too. I've had a call from handy brother. He enjoyed his break in Bognor but was not so keen on the coach journey. Apparently there was a hold up on the M4 and they had to divert almost next to Heathrow and then on the M6 there had been a two car shunt so they were held up again. He said that it was ridiculous in the one service station they stopped in with all the panic buyers queueing for petrol. He set out out 08:45 this morning and arrived home at almost 17:00. That is one, long drive.
Vigil tonight fans!

Had a lazy day today so feeling better. A ten hour shift with a long drive either side of it is too much for me really. It’s constant work I didn’t get chance to sit down once apart from popping to the loo! I think my fiancé was quite concerned about me at one point. No more for a while and the money will come in handy. He has gone off to work as usual the man has amazing stamina. He had a letter from the hospital saying that on further examination he had broken several ribs after his motorbike accident and he had the grand total of one day off work. He is much better now.
Gardens are a constant source of surprises aren’t they? Poor plants will be very confused with the weather though I see rain is forecast all next week .
Evening everyone, No @Ladybird4 unfortunately I didn't get to cut the grass. It rained mid morning and then turned quite cold. Hopefully get it done during the week. We've invested in a gadget from the big river to keep next doors cat from leaving its mess on the Penstemon by our front door. 😠 it has worked so far thank goodness. It happened a few times and left the most horrendous smell, not at all nice when opening the front door! 🤢 I caught it doing it a couple of times, so I know it's next doors cat. Maybe you can get one of those @Songbird-1
Hazel, I heard from Ante the other day. He has been very busy with the start of the new school year and the weather has not really been kind to him and the crops - lots of rain. So far he has harvested around 250Kg of potatoes and he says that he will be back to Rez as soon as he gets a little time.
Debs, broken ribs are so painful, and all they can do is strap them if they discover them. Your Fiancé sounds a very determined character.
