@tack, I use the steel spirals in different heights to support my delphiniums. Think they look much nicer and interesting in their own right than canes and far easier to insert into my clay soil.

Thank you @pitter-patter for the Clematis recommendations. They are full of colours and looks beautiful. I'm going to pick minimum of 3 from these for now!

@Marlorena That's a lot of information about the 'Star of India', Thank you.  I love the bright colours and it's disease free. Definitely I am going for this.

@Fire and @Tack Thank you and I shall keep it in the pots until April.

I have received a beautiful bouquet of red roses. Is it possible to identify which they are? Very dark red with velvety petals? Many thanks if anyone can. Much darker than in the photo!

I've been looking for a rose to compliment my very pink peony (inherited from my Nan), I think 'Variegata di Bologna' will be hopping in my basket if it's still in stock in march!! Has anyone grown it?

@daisym, beautiful roses but unfortunately I would hazard a guess at this time of year especially that most florist's roses are bred for the trade (a lot from Kenya) and are not named.

  • @JessicaS That rose ‘Checkmate’ is very pretty. I have to say I really like single and semi-double roses and I’ve added two more that should be really good this year: Odyssey and Scented Garden. Good luck with your clematis plants, they should only be getting better. I’m in East Midlands as well, so we share the same climate.

@Lizzie27 Thank you. I suspect you are correct. Most of the roses are almost perfect but no fragrance. I will start a search for the nearest equivalent so that I can grow my own.
