Are vine weevils particularly fond of pots over open earth?  I've haven't seen them in my garden. Yet. I await that joy.

I think other things can predate them in the soil so pots do seem to to suffer more. I have lots of things Vine Weevils like in the ground but have only had trouble with Cyclamens in pots. They'd better not start on the roses!
I put Ad Fab in the ground today, only got skewered seriously once. It is a beast of a job with a mature thorny rose in a 64l pot.

I checked on my tiny new Chandos Beauty this morning and could just see a first new shoot. Fingers crossed!

I had vine weevils in the open ground in my last garden, ate all the roots of my heucheras, from then on I just looked longingly at them in the garden centre knowing they’d get eaten if I brought them home!!

I’ve found the odd ‘grub’ as I’ve been digging the new border, fat white body and dark head, bigger than a vine weevil, anyone have an idea what they could be? I’ve been putting them on the bird table for the birds!

@cooldoc What do you think of Trish/Capricia/One in a Million? You've had her for two years, right? How big is it now and how's the shape of the bush and health?

(Edit: bad thread, sorry, I'll repost to the right one.)
