@Eustace, it's beautiful! I find it very hard to handle Holly leaves.

@newbie77 yes, they are very prickly. I wore my gardening gloves for arranging the wreath. I thought of making a door wreath too, but gave up after finding that all the stems I had cut were stiff ones. Also I think the holly tree in my garden is male as it does not have any berries.

Tulips will be fine planted any time up to Christmas so I would wait until the ground has unfrozen. Alternatively just plant them in bigger plastic pots then sink the whole caboodle in the ground next Spring and cheat!

  • Can anybody help me decide between Olivia Rose Austin or Desdemona?  I want to plant one in a large pot & cannot decide between the two.

Both are one of the best DA roses and can grow in large Pot. It is more about which one you like more. Olivia rose has better flower form and beautiful pure pink colour. Desdemona has white flowers with hint of pink and cupped flowers. To my eyes unless I am looking for white, Olivia has better looking flowers. However Desdemona wins when it comes to number of flowers.

@Hilary_15 I have both ORA and Desdemona. Both have similar cupped blooms. If you are making your choice based on fragrance, I love Desdemona. HTH.
