The rain forecast tonight will be very welcome, butts and ground here are bone dry. Shame if this is the end of the lovely weather but Sept has been nicer than any other month this year. The bees are still gathering large quantities of pollen judging by activity and the actual weight of the hive (+5.71kg in the last 7days).
Below isn't a great picture give it gives a sense of the new climbers on the new fence. This is the first flowering year for the rosa Moonlight and clematis terniflora and they have both done pretty well, giving good coverage for one growing season. I'm hoping both will make for a green wall in the next few years - and a deli for pollinators. The planting is kind of mirrored on the new fence opposite to the pic. .
Holy cow crows. Doesn't it bother you? I would shriek on finding that many suckers - I couldn't help myself. It makes my skin crawl all over. I salute your forebearance, M.
..It really doesn't bother me, I quite enjoy seeing them have a good munch.. it's just life in the garden and it rarely bothers strong growing roses... ..if I find one on my hand I carefully put it back on the plant... lol.. I don't expect anyone else to do this mind..
I'm eyeing Blush Noisette. Can I ask how the blooms die? Do they shatter or wither on the vine? Does it seem to need very full sun?
Yes, mine does well as it is in full sun. The individual blooms shed all their petals and once the flowering is over, can be easily pruned. I have seen photos posted by @Marlorena of her (previous) blush noisette rose. It was a glorious sight to behold. Mine is in its second year, so fairly young.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth

I think I’ll grow some seeds next year to see what I get, just for fun!
