Lovely pics... I keep all my garden pics on a separate folder on my phone so its easier for me to glance through them.
@Nollie good to hear from you.. here too the nights are cold, expecting -3 to -4 tonight.. How is the repeat on Soul? I can't remember from last year...
@Tack do you keep your seeds in the fridge? or just plant them straight away?
@cooldoc After my fluke last year I'm just trying to replicate that, so the hips are in paper bags (so I could label them) on the potting table outside in the cold but it is under the balcony. I'll give it an unspecified while and have a peek at the seeds. I hope Soul repeats very well, I built (and continued building)my TCL order around that one
Somebody asked about Ghislaine de F in the shade; mine gets a few midday hours of sun in high summer and is vigorous and healthy. It flowers well, not as well as Mr Vine Eyes' but acceptable.
Question for Standard Rose experts please. Do they need that mushroom-shaped support? Only if they are ramblers or for climbers too? My new one is Eden/Pierre de Ronsard, will it weep like a rambler would?
I looked up the various pronunciations of Ghislaine. They seem regional, but one version is /Ghee-enn/ (not pronouncing the h, s, or l). It seems much the gentlest version. Similarly, the name Hélène is said /Ell-enn/.
@Fire - oh yes, I have seen. I’m just meditating on my reply. I did start writing something last night but then it all went off when the page refreshed and I’ve been at work since. But I’m not ignoring 😉
With pronunciation - as long as you say it with conviction it’s fine. That’s how I get through teaching French at school. I just put on an ‘Allo, ‘Allo voice. The kids never question it!
I miss June... missing the lush green, the scent of flowers and the lovely hum of the bees! Here was mine then; Albertine and wedding day in full bloom on the shed, syrie, cadfael, angel eyes and eyes for you in the middle bed
