..does anyone look at The Right Roses website?  I've just  noticed they've gone all commercial with subscriptions... they don't make it clear what extra you get for subscribing, one sub is nearly £20 a year..  I notice there's a free option...
Not for me but I used to quite enjoy reading their reviews..

    What an honour!

Agree about dates. I thought the Spring Equinox made sense as a start for the Spring thread, that’s in three weeks.

Mine aren’t ready for feeding yet, except maybe Lady of the Lake & Lady of Shalott (all the ladies!)

I’ve been thinking about feeding though, especially with the potted roses and trying to decide what to use and when this year. I’d like to get into more of a routine of regular feeding. I’ll stick to one Spring and Summer feed of granular rose food for the ground planted roses.

Is granular ok for pots? I seem to remember someone saying it’s not great in pots as it can burn the roots...too concentrated maybe in a small space? Maybe I’m imagining it.

Then maybe do a liquid feed through summer - how often do you feed potted ones with this? Once a month, fortnightly or once a week?

They made it commercial since almost a year.. Even I used to enjoy their reviews..mostly Austins.. Full access to all articles for paid members if I remember correctly.. now I rely on HMF and reviews here..

edit-they have added the list of 43roses which can be accessed for 20pounds..

I am getting a big manure delivery at the weekend and will need to lay it down then. So I will feed right before that. Pretty much all mine are leafing up nicely.

I was just at Sissinghurst today (stayed in a wonderful B&B on site for my b'day). I was interested to see Dr Jamain (one of Vita's fav roses) grown as a shrub. I hadn't even considered it.

@Fire - RE Sissinghurst - lovely there, I was so excited to visit when we were in staying in Kingston-upon-Thames, summer 2019 it must have been, but we ended up doing it at the end of the day when the boys were already fairly worn out and cranky so didn’t really manage to make the most of it. Will have to try and go again when we’re in that part of the country.

Happy Birthday Fire ☺️ Lovely trip to make!

@Mr. Vine Eye You would usually feed potted roses weekly with a half strength dose of tomorite or similar.

I don’t know about granular feed…I use DAs and chuck it on everything! 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • I use this. Really didn’t need the image to be that large! 😂
