I should add, feeding roses any time now onwards for southern parts, but for much colder areas such as the far north, anytime up to mid April really..

  • I've deferred my rose food buying until next pay day as I spent my March plant budget on the last bare root delivery and snowdrops in the green  :#

I only started cutting down the garden last weekend though and there's still another two weekends work at least. I've been casting a sharp eye over some of my plants taking up space without giving much joy. I don't think I looked at my four Molinia once last year. They're on the watch list along with a few shrubs.

@purplerallim its still a bargain.. they did not have an extensive collection, but 4 pounds each, even if you mix and match...

expecting rain here tomorrow but not sure regarding the feeding.. how low is your night temps @Marlorena
need to repot the cuttings before I feed the mother plants as all are in same pots.. if its mild will do it sometime before the weekend..

I have over 25 gardening jobs to do in the list and no time for a while. Anyway at least good that I have listed them down. I will need to take some time off work in March to get garden ready for the season.

..above freezing.. and my rain seems to have disappeared...  temps are quite good till mid March.  I've never gardened further north than where I am now..  my 'February Gold' daffs are just now in flower, they often don't make it until March..

  • I'm eyeing up another bed to extend my addiction into.
It is currently mixed herbaceous including 3 very old roses that I transplanted into it at end 2018.
2 of these are not really doing enough to earn their place and I'm thinking of replacing them, but I'm wondering whether RRD may be a concern here?
How long does a rose need to be in place for RRD to be an issue and how far from the old rose spot would it be safe to plant another rose?

Just another day at the plant...

..I wouldn't worry too much about that, they've only been there what 3 years?  a bit of soil improvement should be sufficient.. perhaps some MF if you have it to hand..
You can never tell with rose replant but I doubt you would have a serious issue with it in this instance..  if possible I do try to plant about 2 foot from the original hole if I can, but sometimes that's not always possible and it goes straight into the same spot..
