It seems 'The Prince' is available again from rose.it  (I don't know about delivery costs).

Last year it was 33 Euros for upto 6 roses (probably due to brexit) and you need to place a minimum order of 3 roses.

    That’s a shame, I’d like The Prince!

  • Defoliation it is then.
    Just GdeF to strip now.
Foliage is still in generally good condition, bit of spotting but not at all tatty
Are we sure this is not an evergreen rose @Mr. Vine Eye ?
My pruning has been very light on this, simply trimming back the ends of branches and remove any old flower heads remaining and tie in to support.
Not sure for pruning of climbers and ramblers, do I need to be more drastic?

@owd potter with Ghislaine - remove any canes that you don’t need now, because if you leave her she’ll become a mad tangle. So if you’ve got any bits in the wrong place, like growing away from the support, just cut them out entirely. Looks like you’ve got enough in the right places for next year.

Thats just from experience of having left lots in the first year and her becoming a nightmare in the second!

  • My Generous Gardener threw out several thin shoots (which flowered) and 1 sturdy cane to about 3m long which is now up on top of pergola structure.

I am guessing that I do not prune this cane back?
These other shoots I have trimmed lightly, should these be cut back further ?

My advice here would be... don't bother.. not with Ghislaine de Feligonde.. the winter usually defoliates my plant even if it's quite late - no sign of it so far, but otherwise it's not necessary, nor with any rambler and most climbers that are out of easy reach...  leave defoliating to Austins and other shrubby types..  especially those once flowering roses from the Old Rose group, 19th Century types.. if you have any..

  • Cheers @Mr. Vine Eye, much appreciated.
I have tried to spread out and tie back any suitable shoots and start to create a framework.
I want a suitable shoot from the base to train across and around the cordyline trunk.
I'll take another look and trim any rogue shoots accordingly.

@owd potter The Generous Gardener looks good. No need to cut the main canes unless they’re in the wrong place or too long!
