Just spotted this, not sure if anyone on here has mentioned it already.
    Mortimer Sackler has been renamed:

I understand that the original name was paid for at a charity auction. But as the Sackler family has been heavily criticised for its role in the opioid crisis in the US - the name was controversial. Their pharmaceutical company aggressively marketed the drug OxyContin which was highly addictive, prone to misuse and addiction problems. Even though it’s no more effective than other far safer alternatives. They were found to have actively misled regulators, doctors and patients over the risks of taking it. Making billions while causing suffering to millions of people.

So I’m not surprised that DA received complaints about the name!

Would you alter what you called your rose if the official named changed?

@Mr. Vine Eye it was the subject of much debate a couple of days ago 😆 I went to order it when the new roses were released and couldn’t find it! Thankfully spotted that mary delany was the same, I was momentarily gutted!

Boiling kittens alive and beating orphans??? sounds like Mary Delany wasn't any better than Sackler.. Not the rose's fault though..

@Mr. Vine Eye I didn’t realise that’s who he was! Definitely a good thing they’ve changed it then, I’ll likely call it mary delany, especially now knowing who the previous name was! If I’d had it for years it might be a harder adjustment!

    I’m with @zugenie 👍

This is the problem with naming roses after people.

Has anyone ever tried planting a rose in a tall chimney pot or a rhubarb forcer (so the roots grow into the earth at the base)?  To give extra, added height?

hello, quick q, looking at DA catalogue and contemplating a cheeky order.
The thing is, The Lady of Shallott has looked beautiful all winter, keeping its gleaming green foliagre which Gabriel Oak looks like a couple of depressing post-apocalyptic sticks! Admittedly my puppy hasn't helped its appearance lol. Definitely only want roses that look good all year round though- any recommendations? My Sam McGready roses also look fab
