I'm not a flower arranger! But I spotted a few rose blooms outside and thought I'd bring them in.
Royal Jubilee, Lady Emma Hamilton and Munstead Wood.
They're mostly slowing down now. Haven't had many blooms. That said The Generous Gardener has some fresh buds on - that one is always slow to start in Spring for me but then blooms later on when everything else has stopped.
Stunning bouquet @Mr. Vine Eye! Actually I thought that Royal Jubilee was a pinker colour and I didn’t imagine that it could look so good with the orange of Lady Emma. In your pic it seem it’s almost liliac instead, if that’s the case, I’ll put in my wishlist as I was just thinking what rose I could put near my LEH. i like Munstead Wood but you all say that it’s a difficult rose and I don’t have it in me to take care of it right now
Today I finally put an new arch in the garden, where I want to move my M.me Alfred Carriere. The arch is near one of the palms, so I will try to make the MAC climb on it too. Then I installed a bird feed pole, here at the right of the new arch
And now let’s see if I will manage to take some pics of the little birds, hope very much so.
Marie Pavie has a lot a buds and a flower
And I hope this LEH bud will manage to flower, I can’t wait to see it!
I confess that I thought LEH to be bigger than that, instead I found out that it’s a tiny shrub. Nevertheless I just love its foliage colour, it’s a beautiful small shrub.
Gorgeous view @dabolem, how lovely it must be to sit there and enjoy.
Julia Child is still budding and blooming away at the top but I’m not sure I can look at the black-spotted, defoliated bottom two thirds of it for much longer, I’m itching to take my secateurs to it. I’m much more relaxed about pruning at this time than I used to be, so very shortly I will reduce it by around a third. Then in Feb I’m going to give it a harder chop and remove a few old canes as it’s getting leggy and not willing to put out new basals. So the last hurrah:
A late Deep Secret, this is also a BS defoliated mess and has been all summer. A reluctant bloomer so far and an ugly habit. Not convinced it’s a keeper:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie thanks, actually the view is exactly why we chose this house as soon as we saw it.
Deep Secret is so beautiful, it’s petals seems so thick, almost like velvet! It’s a shame that it has an ugly habit. As for BS I think that this year was really awful to roses in general, it seems that many roses owner had suffered BS even where there usually were none the previous year.
Can any of you tell me about Royal Jubilee habit? I would like to put it in part shade, and to use it as a small climber. Can I do this in your opinion?
