@Jemula exquisite roses they are  :)
@edhelka Thanks for sharing info about heritage of those old roses.
@newbie77 no, you are no longer a newbie with those 100 roses.  :hushed:
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

I wish all my roses looked as healthy as that one...  what you have there is minor and not something to be alarmed about at this stage... the canes look green and healthy, apart from a short one in the lower right hand corner.. that might be dead.. edit..actually I think it's good but can't see all of it..

Credit for keeping it in that smallish pot for 4 years...

I just checked and I have zero basal shoots coming. Very few last year either. :/

Lots of laterals sprouting about the place though.

..thank you !... were you here under a different name before? I don't recognise it [you don't have to tell me]...
..the streaks on your canes are perfectly normal and not canker... there is a minor blemish at the base of a cane but again not something I would take any notice of..

..expect it's blowy today on your balcony, it is here..   do show us photos your balcony roses this summer, it's all a good learning curve..

Even though I have so many, none of the DA is perfect. I like them over other roses as I like to have a new vase of rose everyday and they like my part shade and poorly drained garden.

If I don't look at the plant and sample them all in vase, it would be Evelyn and then Abraham Darby, Munstead wood, Jubilee celebration. As soon as I see a flower on these I bring it in.

But those are not the good growing plants. In fact  AD rusted so badly I had put him in Quarantine.

In the garden, overall The Poet's Wife, Desdemona, and Lady of shallot are good roses for me.

@Eustace, I started this garden in 2019 autumn with plan for 25 roses.

I have now a couple of years gardening experience but have kept my screen name as I like it 😊
